SHORT & EXTENDED PROMOS FOR THE DESCENT (EP212)

COMPLETE SONGLIST FOR BY THE LIGHT OF THE MOON (EP211)

It’s time for the mid-season finale, and it should be one heck of a ride. There are those scorching scenes that were revealed in the trailer, a brand new character in search of Mason, and it’s now That Time of the Month for poor Tyler. Judging from the discoveries made last week, it’s not going to be at all fun for the poor guy, and may well be painful for us viewers to watch. That’s not going to stop us from being glued to our screens to find out just how the Vampire Diaries werewolf transformation process is going to go down, though.

Don’t forget that tonight we’re participating in a live virtual viewing party over at PHILO, and you guys are all welcome to come and join in. Don’t miss out on a chance to win some Vampire Diaries goodies.

Watch and then swing by here to rate the new episode of The Vampire Diaries. Spoilers are welcome in the comments, though if you want some more in-depth discussion then head on over to the forums! (You’ll need to register, but it takes two seconds.)

You can also participate in the chatroom, and we have a channel specifically for discussing the episode live – just click on the tab when you’re in the main chatroom. You will need to be a member of the forums to join in.

Quick guide to the poll options: Wolfsbane is also known as Monkshood and Aconite, and features prominently in folklore. In the Vampire Diaries universe it’s toxic to werewolves, and we know that Tyler is going to have to spike his drink with a lot of it to help keep his wolf under some semblance of control tonight.
5 Wolfsbane Flowers = LOVE. 1 Wolfsbane Flower = MEH.

What did you think of By the Light of the Moon (EP211)?

@ Rehabber- OK my friend, you asked me to watch this episode again…this time not expecting anything…still wasn’t my favorite episode. However, it wasn’t as bad as I originally thought….still don’t like Jules, still think she looks like she needs a bath, and still thinks she needs to sit in Mason’s chair awhile. I still think the whole Stefan being stuck in the tomb with Kat was useless….I don’t think that Stefan would have to had done the deed with Katherine to have “Oomph”, but, because of her weakened state, it would have been nice if he had played mind games with her, as in get into her head. Still not fond of the romance, if that’s what you call it, between Elena & Stefan, still think it’s boring as hell….I do not think Stefan is boring, I still think the writers wasted a huge opportunity. Still think Bonnie’s an idiot.

Now, for what I did like….the deal Elena made with Elijah is really intersting. With Elijah, you have to be very specific on the deals you make. Do I believe he is a vamp of his word? Yes…but I also think he sticks to the deal in very specific terms. The deal was that Elena’s family and friends would be kept safe and not be harmed, Elena was to go about living her life, until Elijah was ready to take on Klaus. Then, Elijah would come for Elena and they would draw Klaus out of his hiding place and Elijah would kill him….so in the whole scheme of things, Elijah never guaranteed Elena’s safety did he? All he did was promise to protect her friends and family and try to kill Klaus…does this give anyone cause for concern?

Also, did no one notice all of the grimoires that Luka and Jonas had? The simple, “they all belong to members of our family is a bit to simple”…I think they’ve been stealing witches spells for a long time….shouldn’t this send a zap to Bonnie’s “danger radar”?

Thank God Damon listened to Alaric for once and went home…poor Rose, she stepped into the line of fire and got herself bit…it doesn’t look like it’s going to well for her…..

Again, the werewolf storyline doesn’t do a thing for me, but I do think Tyler’s transformation was filmed wonderfully. Considering this is just a prime time TV show on the CW, they did a great job with the special effects…Also thought Trevino shined throughout this whole process…but I’m still concerned…what do you guys think is going to happen when he finds out “Dear Uncle Mason” is dead? Who’s he going to side with? Is he still going to want to be with Caroline, or will his let his wolf nature take over? If he lets his wolf nature take over, that means he becomes a threat to all the vampires, by this I mean both Stefan and Damon. That’s something to think about.

Final thoughts…since Elena has made this deal with Elijah, which protects EVERYONE she cares for, this would also include Damon, too. Well, since Jules thinks she can come to town being all billy bad ass,and tell Damon he’s marked, why not introduce her to Elijah? Hell, just hand Elijah the whole freaking wolf pack, after all, a deal is a deal, isn’t it? Wouldn’t want to be a werewolf in Mystic Falls if that happens!

I have relatives that live in the atlanta ‘area’ (lucky) and they are distant relatives and we recently became closer due to a circumstance but anyway – on with my story. Several of them have seen Ian and nina out together in different areas. And I was like Well they are very good friends and they were like Um, no, this was definitely more than friends – no doubt in their minds that Ian and nina are very much a couple off screen. Considering the source and who told me, I have absolutely no reason to not believe them. They did not know I watched the series and when we got to talking and they found out I watched it then they just spewed all that info out on their own. Any thoughts on this? Did i miss something?

And if they are a couple off screen what difference does it make? I’m not sure what you think you missed, or where you are wanting to take this, much less how this pertains to the show. Ian and Nina have a right to their privacy and what they get in Atlanta is Southern Hospitality. In other words, the freedom to live their lives without intrusion. I live in Atlanta too and can say that when Ian and Nina are approached to sign autographs for fans, they are always gracious to do so, as do all members of the TVD cast. They get to enjoy all that Atlanta has to offer, which is quite a bit, and not have to worry about being stalked by fans or the paparazzi. They get enough of that in Los Angeles.

I have mentioned the injuries and illness the cast has endured this season. The whole cast are real troopers and know the show must go on. I don’t think that is wrong to discuss as that does pertain to the show. As for Ian and Nina’s personal life, I just don’t think that needs to be discussed on this website. Just my opinion…I’m just sayin…. Others may disagree with me and I hope I did not sound to abrupt. If I did, I apologize….

Please don’t make it into a big deal, it was a simple question and from that simple question I got a reply that almost implied that I don’t give a crap about privacy, well, you don’t know me so you can’t ‘imply’ that. I never heard this b4 and i figured this may be the place to ask some other fans – apparently not, wrong thread, my apologies. Plus, I thought it would be cute if they were that’s all.

  • lainey

Digger, yea, it says under the leave a reply section that if u want to discuss relationships to go to the forums – that’s ok, you prolly didn’t see it. Don’t take what GP said personally, she is just a big fan like all of us and we all want their privacy to be honored. They have their own reasons for not coming out about it and that is fine with me/us. ;)

Vamp Lover: So glad you liked it better the 2nd time. I agree not at the top of my favorite eps, but so much better than I had thought.:)) To me Tyler and Caroline were what saved the ep, awesome job by Michael and Candice, I was like Caroline in that I watched with hand to mouth, crying and wanting to help Tyler.

Since Elena had been trying to get herself taken to save her family, I think she knew what she was getting into with Elijah, and BTW, I am loving this character. Loved the look he gave Kat when he was telling Stefan the tomb spell was down and that he compelled her to stay put.

Luka did tell Bonnie that they were not all his family grimoires, but other witches, since all witches were like family. Or words like that. How long is it going to take Luka to decide he is going to break with his dad, already he is not happy.

What Tyler will do when he finds out that Damon killed Mason has been a concern of mine from the start. I am feeling very sorry for Tyler right now and unless he goes after Damon, I want him to stay alive.lol This should be very interesting next year. I don’t think that Jules will be around long, since she is only strong on full moon night. Maybe like some of the werewolf stories, if the wolf that bites you is killed, you can be cured. Was that a wolf that Jules called from the car? Could that be the one that bit Rose?

I have now watched this ep 5 times and each time I find more to like. Still not happy with Bonnie and her guy choices, so far none of them have been good. Are Jenna and Matt always just going to be kept clueless, something needs to be done with these characters.

Dang 7 weeks to wait, glad I have season one to watch again and all S2 on DVR.

Hi Digger- I kive in the Atlanta area as well. I can honestly say that whatever the cast decide to do with their personal life needs to stay private. GA Peach said that whenever the cast are spotted around town, all of them are very gracious and sign autographs. I know this for a fact to be true. It’s different for these guys down here because they can get out and about without a bunch of paparazzi and camera’s following them around (like what they have to deal with in LA). In a sence, it’s like a breath of fresh air. I don’t think GA Peach meant to be abrupt, it’s just not something we talk about and it really doesn’t pertain to the show or where the story is going to take us:)

Hi Rehabber: About the deal Elena made with Elijah- shoot, I think when I typed it up, my wording was off…what I meant to say was that Elena basically is still on her suicide mission, she just choose a different method. When the boys find out the exact terms of the deal, neither of them are going to be none to happy with her…

Regarding those pesky wolves…(Darn- I can tell I can’t ignore this part of the storyline even though I don’t like it..LOL)No, I think it was Jules that bit Rose…but I also think that whomever Jules called from her car is part of a wolf pack and they are going to go on a hunt for our favorite vampires. I expect to see Jule’s friend show up in The Descent. However, Jules needs to understand that if Damon ends up having to stake Rose because of the wolf bite and the infection that follows, there will be no place she can hide. The full moon doesn’t last that long so the tables will be turned soon. Rose basically pushed Damon out of the way and took the bite for him..he’s going to feel responsible for what happens to Rose. It seems he likes her (so do I by the way, she’s grown on me) and considers her his friend. Let’s just say, I wouldn’t want to be Jules if there is no cure for Rose.

Regarding Caroline and Tyler- I still think this is a dangerous situation. Time will tell, and I’m trying to keep an open mind, but at the end of the day, he can kill her…we need to know more about what happens to these guys in wolf form. Obviously Jules changed to go after Damon so they recognize what they are doing. But how many changes does that take? Tyler obviously didn’t recognize Caroline in wolf form, but it was only his first change, so we will see.

I to am anxiously awaiting 1/27…can we fast forward till that date? I already miss my guilty pleasure!

I think the disappointment with this episode does not come from the actual quality of it, but the fact that I, like so many other fans, got wrapped up in teasers, cliffhanger rumors and spoilers. I forgot to just enjoy the show. I was expecting more, but I am satisfied with what I got and will from now on be staying far away from spoilers. These actors are amazing, and the writers are fantastic. We’re only halfway through the season. I have faith there is a wicked plan for the rest of it. With that being said, I did not appreciate how misleading that promo was. It was some serious false advertising, especially when coupled with the interview teasers. They’re not playing fair. But I forgive them ;)  (Quote)

    Jill,
Acutally I agree with what you said. I went back and watched this episode a second time knowing what was shown in the promo and the interview teaser were not going to be taking place. Watching it with a more open mind, not expecting anything, the episode was much better than I originally thought. I agree with Vamp Lover when she said it would have been disappointing if Stefan had given into Katherine so quickly. However, it would have been much more interesting if Stefan had the opportunity to play mindgames with Katherine. That would have been fun to watch and an opportunity was missed. You are right that we are only halfway through the season and there is so much more that will be going after the winter hiatus. The TVD cast are amazing and as a fan, I am a little ashamed that I blasted this episode so unfairly. This taught me a lesson not to put so much emphasis on a promo, but just to be intrigued by it.

Love the Elijah character. If he is being honest with Elena and just wants Klaus dead and could care less about the curse of the wolves. Then why did he want Luka’s dad to get the moonstone? Just another question…or did I miss something? lol

Hi Eve- My guess is the moonstone can be uses as a weapon of sorts, or it can be used to “control” the wolves maybe…or he could’ve wanted Jonas to get the moonstone to make double damn sure the curse was never broken…I totally agree with you, Elijah is one hell of a character, he’s keeping me guessing and that’s always a good thing:)

Thanks VampLover. I’ve liked Elijah since his first appearance on the show. You are right. He does keep us guessing. lol

I think the cliffhanger would have been more exciting if they ended the episode at that part where Jenna was telling Elena that she’s helping out somebody with research on Mystic Falls and when she shut the cabinet, it was Elijah standing there.

That would have given us all a heartattack!

  • Sassenach

Watching the finale, I could not help but being a bit dissapointed as well. Over here in Holland we get to watch the show on the internet the day after, so the expectation was very hich for me. Also I don’t care about Rose, find her anoying and too much crying..brrt!
But did anyone think ( like I did ) that Bonnie said to Elena: It’s for the best Nina??? it surely sounded like it..if so they must be overworked or something. Did like the Damon/Alaric and Caroline/ Tyler thouch
