Personally I think Damon let’s her get away with way too much abuse! Why is he taking it? The scene in the jailhouse left me absolutely stunned! Maybe that’s how he felt too, stunned by her reaction to him! She is beating him up and abusing him brutally right now… how does he deserve that? She makes no sense! Writers, what up?!!! I hope we get some sort of explanation for her 180 degree turnaround with Damon!!!

This is hilarious. This conversation started as a ‘Damon’ spin off possibility and ended up a conversation about S4 Angel and Spike… lol!!! I do like our banter though, it’s awesome, everyone chips in… who knows where it will go! Till we get in trouble that is ;)

Sure she sees all those things in Damon which is why she “can’t shake him”. Trouble is she doesn’t appreciate him for them. She would rather have her idealized version of a perfect relationship like the one she thought she had with Stefan. Trouble is he never really was who he said he was. He repressed his vampire nature and showed her only what she wanted to see. Stefan also let her make the decisions in the relationship right or wrong so of course it was smoother because she got her way.

Damon tells her when she is being stupid. He challenges her. Damon was always himself good or bad. He didn’t try to hide who he was. She doesn’t think he is good enough for her the way he is. Remember the episode when Damon told her to stop trying to change him into Stefan? Later she admitted to Caroline that he was right about her trying to do that. Being with Damon may present more of a challenge but she can’t deny he is capable of deep love and loyalty as proven by his 146 year love and search for Katherine.

Elena seems only to be happy with either brother when they act exactly how she wants them to. That’s why the brothers are estranged from her. They’re doing what is right for them. At this point as Vamplover pointed out the brothers should make their own choice to let her go because she hasn’t learned after all this time that she can’t change what they are. If she can’t accept it then she doesn’t deserve to be with either of them. And maybe they should finally learn that their brother relationship is more important than anything she can offer them.

I know to me they keep making things worse between them. I kept reminding myself that the last 3 episodes were suppose to 3 consecutive days so tempers were still flaring. I have no idea how they expect to turn things around in the next 6 episodes unless they bond again while helping save Ric.

The whole reason they are showing us that scene and having Elena and Matt have a small moment of exchanged looks and pointing out those expressions to us is to mess with us. I don’t believe I saw it wrong, I have also watched the episode several times, and I clearly saw Matt getting his say in there. I don’t blame him I guess, as he does love her, and why shouldn’t he? but It is typical for former lovers to “have their say” at a time like that. 

I don’t think Matt loved Caroline not only for the reason I mentioned, but also because he didn’t accept her. He wen’t behind her back to spy on her with her Mother, lied to her face, and was horrified by her whole new being. Okay maybe in the end he warmed a little to the Idea, but he took his time. Too much time, if you ask me, considering he “loved” her…

Yeah, I guess that could be right Jenna, still… was weird. She said it in this psycho kind of way! Then the next thing he is in a cell…. She may not be supernatural, but she sure as hell might have somekind of supernatural contraction or mechanism that allows her to do weird stuff and play with peoples minds…

I’m just not buying the whole Rick serial killer thing.

Yeah Rebekah looked to pretty and pouty… but I guess Damon can’t shake Elena either. No matter how mean she is to him. 

I really liked the episode and was shocked that others didn’t.  I posted a comment awhile back on some theories on maybe why people were disappointed but after thinking, I have another theory.  The Vampire Diaries is a VERY fast paced show, that’s part of the reason we all love it. I can barely sit through other shows with drawn out plot lines and where it’s highly doubtful main characters will just drop dead… (we TVD fans are very spoiled) But 1912 wasn’t about the action and the tension.  It was very emotionally rooted.  I do think it was over hyped and almost everybody knew Alaric was the murderer after Paleyfest! As for Damon I don’t think Sage was the reason Damon became Damon, I think it was Stefan.  Sage might have taught him a few tricks but I think it was his guilt over Stefan that changed him. (We all know how Damon gets when he’s upset!) Damon’s story line is far from over and we are definitely going to find out more.  I also have this feeling that all of these character are being built up, something tells me that things just might explode leading to and in the Season Finale…
