I agree that this episode was a fantastic start to Season 4.   Elena did make her choice to continue on with Stefan and reaffirmed her love to him in the premiere episode.  Elena did tell Damon she cared for him too, but she had to let him “go”.   It will be interesting to see just how long Elena will let Damon “go” before she is back wanting and needing his help, advice, attention, friendship and love.  Damon challenges her and makes her question herself and how she looks at life. As a newly turned vampire, that will not change.   Whether Elena likes it or not, Damon will always choose her life first.

It just seems to me that Elena and Stefan need to solve their own problems together.  If the animal diet doesn’t work for her, Elena should tell Stefan….surely he would understand. Due to the fact that Elena chose Stefan while still being consumed by Damon can only lead to more problems.   In reality she was not ready to make her choice.

I am hoping Damon does get the whole “GFY” attitude towards  Elena, Stefan and their little Mystic Falls group.  A new threat is coming to Mystic Falls and Damon can focus on that.  Teaming up with Klaus, who knows of the existence of this threat, will make for some great storytelling and happy fans.

 As a Damon fan, while the writers are telling the Stefan and Elena “epic” love story, it would be nice if they would write a love story for Damon too, which would involve a beautiful vampire that would be around for quite sometime. Damon does not need to be romantically involved with another human girl.

I’m sure that the DE/Damon fans who don’t like Stefan would probably agree with you.  There is a huge imbalance in the way the writers deal out happiness and compassion between the brothers on this show.   The moment Damon enjoys some happiness, it’s swiftly taken away from him again.  Not to say that Stefan is NEVER unhappy – there have been loads of times when he’s been miserable.  But he’s never been miserable and had Damon and Elena swanning around, and rubbing it in his face that he’s alone and they’re a couple.  Even when Damon kissed Elena in 3×10 and 3×19 they never did that.  It can be very difficult to be able to sit back and enjoy watching SE because I can’t enjoy that they’re together while Damon doesn’t have anyone.  It doesn’t seem fair that they can and should be so happy when he’s left in the cold again and again.  SE would be much easier to stomach if the writers didn’t keep throwing them parties that Damon wasn’t invited to.  
I thought the DE scene and Damon’s speech in 4×01 was amazing.  He was absolutely right, and she knew it.  She couldn’t come up with a clever counter-argument.  She didn’t say anything because she knew there was nothing she could say that would make sense.  Her entire logic about Damon being in the wrong for saving her is utterly daft.  I could write an essay about it.  But I won’t – it would take too long. 
I was baffled by Stefan’s hot and cold approach to Elena last season.  “I don’t think I deserve your love, so I’m gonna make you hate me instead.”  “She’s not my problem anymore, she’s YOUR problem Damon.”  “I’m pretty sure I still want you but I’m not going to pursue you.”  “I’m backing off so you can figure out what your feelings for Damon are…and then I’m not going to discuss them when you get home.”  “OK, I still want you.  Let’s go.”  I mean, talk about confusing.  The continuity between 3×19 and 3×20 was non-existent.  You would think the first thing they would have done was sit down and have a serious talk about what they’d been through, what Elena’s feelings for Damon were, where they were going, and what they both wanted.  That was the whole point of the trip to Denver, wasn’t it?  What did they do?  They went dancing together.  It was SO weird.

 The Vampire Diaries came back with a bang and I loved the first episode.  I honestly believe this season is going to be fantastic. 

However, when it comes to the whole Delena and Stelena thingy…….

All I can say is that the Damon fans and the Delena fans have been waiting for something to actually happen between Damon and Elena so a love triangle will actually form. They have been waiting for three years.  Elena saying Damon consumes her, but never going there with him is meaningless.  Until it actually happens I don’t see how anyone can judge whether they will like it or not. 

I feel like I am watching Stefan and Elena doing kissy face on the Gilbert front porch over and over again while Damon is waiting in his car to drive Stefan home.  That is not a love triangle.  There is only so much of that which can be shown before it is too redundant.  Elena has chosen Stefan  irregardless of what he has done.  Elena told Damon she was letting him go, so Damon needs to move on. 

At this point it is ridiculous for Elena to go to Damon if she has a problem  It needs to be worked out with Stefan.  At least let that be a progression in the Stelena relationship.  However, I’m sure Damon will take every opportunity to take a jab at Stefan with some of the best sarcasm imaginable due to the fact that Damon will never understand or accept the fact that Stefan did not put Elena’s life first….. and she died. 

I’m just thankful for the Originals and the stories that can be built around them.  The newly forming Klaus, Caroline, Tyler love triangle has already surpassed what was suppose to be the main theme love triangle between Damon, Elena and Stefan, plus the writers have managed to do it with humor.

As a 100% Damon fan, it would be nice if the writers would see fit to give him a love interest that isn’t going to be killed off within 6 episodes, or one that continuously chooses his brother.  It has been a disservice to the Damon fans. At this point I don’t care if Elena ever chooses Damon, unless she can let Stefan “go”.   As a Damon fan, I would just like something for him that could be true to the heart.  Unfortunately in that respect, Julie has said Damon will not be getting or looking for a love interest, but will be focusing his efforts on a new threat coming to town. 

Also, Elena becoming a vampire is going to cause a problem for the Stelena lovebirds.  At this point who knows what that means, but I highly expect it to be her feeding habits.  I am very much looking forward to Elena as a vampire….a force of nature all on her own.  Hopefully as the season progresses, she will no longer be portrayed as a damsel in distress. 

Did anyone else laugh hysterically after Damon rips into Matt’s neck and calls to the house saying, “Yooo whoo!” ?? With the blood on his lips… looking a little drunk… Matt moaning on the ground in pain… I was on the floor ;)

Please do not generalize all Ian/Damon fans as 12-year-old girls. I am way way beyond 12 but a huge fan of the actor and the character.

uff but are the excuses? of are the writers just throwing team Delena bones? :(

I’m a fan of Ian’s too, but I can’t respect a character (Damon) who does whatever he likes and then kills people when things don’t go his way. I don’t care how pretty he is. If you were a 12-year-old I could forgive you for your misguided feelings, but since you’re not … you should really re-evaluate why you loooove Damon.
