She underestimated the audiences ability to empathize with an emotionally damaged character and our ability to understand what is beyond the surface appearance. It seemed pretty clear she was surprised when she flat out said this summer that she tried everything to get us to hate him but we just wouldn’t. I also think the more Stefan’s character is built up at the expense of Damon’s the more we’re going to root for him. What do they expect with such inequitable treatment of each brother? We all know life isn’t fair but i’d like to think at least in the fantasy world at some point the underdog finally gets happiness.

Did I say he was going to keep the cure a secret all season? Nope. But for right now he is in cahoots with Klaus to cure her of her vampirism, knowing full well it means turning her into Klaus’ personal hybrid making blood bag. Stefan is not doing right by her.

I agree the music and the fast pace did not make this scene as awesome as it could have been…there is actually so much emotion and actions that I missed during that scene because it was soo fast. I agree with you. I use to watch preview clips and take part in discussions where I knew spoilers were likely to be said, and it always backfired on me. The episodes became less enjoyable because I already knew half of the story. Now I stay away from spoilers and I don’t watch preview clips anymore. I find myself much more engrossed in the storylines and more open to the unpredictability of the show.

BTW, I thought this episode was really good.

I want Damon to be as pissed at her as he was in 3×15! remember when Elena called him and he was just like: What? and she is basically saying: if you mad at me you need to get over it! – she is soooooo selfish! and for the first time he showed her its not all about her! I want HIM TO REJECT HER for once!

I’m not sure which I thought was sadder the look on his face when she hugged him or the look when she said she didn’t want to be like him. Can we get a happy look for him please like when he’s killing someone bad? LOL. Maybe next ep.

You know, I keep doing this thing where I start to believe that the rumors that all this that we are saying is sadly very true, but then Something that I can’t quite put my finger on leads me to believe that this concept is just to crazy as the show is so thoughtfully layed out and very strategically planned in such a way that it just doesn’t make sense that they really want to do this. I do a full circle and then I’m back at the beginning again, usually due to some new developement that envolves trashing Damon again, and the negativity kicks in until that sneeking suspicion that It just can’t be starts up again…

See the thing is, when JP said that she had damon kill Jer to have the fans dislike Damon, why on earth would she have him take an arrow in the back for Elena the following episode, go all gentle again and have her say that he had lost her forever only to have him back in her good books not to far after that, then eventually, at the end of the season, have him reconsiliate with her on his deathbed and go through so much growth in order to get there ??? None of it makes any sense if they are not really building up to something better for him or for them in the future. Jeremy now has this whole little bro thing going on with him and Damon has even progressed to the level where pretty soon he will be buds with Tyler…

A theory I keep reading and possibly agree with is that they are building him up more and more everytime, soon he will be at a stage where he wont be doing everything for Elena, but because he really does know the difference between right and wrong and when he is at a stage where he wouldn’t let a single person sacrifice themselves for selfish reason, is when he will finally, in JP’s eyes, be ready for Elena. This providing she doesn’t actually commit murder as speculated for the up coming episodes. If she does, then If their plan originally was to build Damon up to some kind of standard that human Elena had, then I guess this season was a game changer. And anything is possible.

All I know is that it seems really crazy what she said about people hating Damon to be the truth, especially after all the really great things we have seen him do for his bro, Elena, and the others since then. She must have either said it because she had a change of heart since then or because they are trying to cause polemic discussion like this in order to get people riled up and talking about the series. This last option is quite risky on their behalf but it is true that it is much easier to have Damon shunned contantly, while playing games with the romances and at the same time keep the viewer ratings up, than it would be to have stefan the shunned one and have Elena with Damon. They could just maybe do it less harshly and have Damon happier, without all the heartache. Like I dunno, have a new girl introduced, for a while, then have Delena “eventually” endgame without obliterating Elenas character and totally making Damon seem so pathetic at times…

That’s great… yeah, I’m just going to enjoy this show because the characters are so precious. I love how they all will have their struggles. And what I hope most is for Rebekah to be loved, probably some times later in the season. I wondered if Elijah would have been angry with Klaus like he had been when Klaus had daggered all the siblings. But maybe with the arrival of the five, he would be too busy wanting to save his entire family again. What do you gusy think?

I agree about Bonnie. I am so ready for her to be off the show, because she is so judgmental. She has no clue what any of the vamps are going through, especially the newbies and yet she has no problem looking down on all of them. 

The way she was after Katherine turned Caroline was incredible. We were friends, but now that something happened to Caroline against her will that changed her forever, it’s all over. What a great friend. It reminded me of an assault victim being blamed for the assault.

Bonnie also sees everything as black and white. Guess what sweetheart, you don’t live in a black and white world. You’re dealing with vamps, weres, hybrids, magic, and the supernatural. It’s all grey.

The fact that she thinks Damon is totally evil and Stefan is totally good annoys me to know end. What Stefan is doing right now hiding things and lying to everyone is going to change the “family” dynamics when the @#$% hits the fan. Elena is all about honesty and Damon has always been that. I think she’s going to have a hard time forgiving Stefan when (not if) she finds out. 

I’ve always been Team Salvatore, but since this season started I’m leaning more and more towards Team Damon. Just because of the choices that Stefan is making.

I think your totally right. The more crap they pore on him the more I find myself hating everyone else in the series who hates on him and gives him a hard time. 

I used to really like Stefan and now after seeing how he hid he had been such an evil person himself and then when he was trying to make good again with Elena in season 3 all he did was tell Elena how she was too good for Damon and take every chance he got to crap on Damon behind his back to look good in the eyes of Elena. I hate his goody-two-shoes attitude that likes to rub everything in Damon’s face. And now they are making us slowly hate Elena too… so for Stelena to be JP’s epic romance, it really is a twisted one… and I’m starting to think they really are made for each other. 

Is that what they wanted? :s ….

I have a list of foggy spots I would like to post somewhere, but not quite sure where to do so, to see if anyone has answers. Because they are basically things that I think are unresolved from the beginning of the series, and would be nice to chat with you guys about these things. 

Her vision seems to differ from ours. Of course the books are written the same which is why I stopped reading them midway thru. There’s only so much inequitable treatment of characters I can stomach.

As for Stefan, if you notice way back in season 1 when he first knew Damon was in town he made it a point to convince Elena of how dangerous and selfish Damon was. Remember early on when she said to Stefan when they were cooking dinner that everything Damon does is for love and he corrected her by saying he only does things for his own benefit? He had a brief time after his Ripper phase when Damon took his place in turning Abby where Stefan actually treat Damon like he was a good guy. Of course that didn’t last. How can these people be so blind? Is Meredith the only one who sees it because she’s older?

 Klaus didnt kill her he put he t0 sleeep…the moment the dAGger is pulled out she comes back to life…elena wanted to use the white oak to permanently kill her….big difference
