A moment of silence, if you will, in order to appreciate the fact that the Vampire Diaries is back, and we survived yet another godforsaken hiatus. We salute you, fandom, for your courage over the long weeks without our favourite TV show!

I agree about Emily, although I think she is being delusional about the whole thing. Anyway, I am glad she decided to let Damon in, because let’s be honest, they have better chance at succeeding with Damon on the team :)

Agreed. That is why I hate Elena alot of the time is how they write her character. She has forgiven Damon for every unspeakable act that he has ever done not only to her, but to everyone else she loves. Damon wasn’t compelled and no one forced him to do the things he did. He was driven by his love for Katherine. That was his excuse. Elena saw and witnessed first hand what Stefan was pushed to do and she is so quick to write him off. You think what all he has done no only to her but to the other people. How is he suppose to come back from that to the Stefan we knew before? Especially in Elena’s eyes. I wonder if she really meant what she said to him him when she was in Chicago that she would help him like Lexi did if he came home. Stefan said it himself, then what? It took him 30 years to come back to any sort of normalcy. I think he has a pretty good reason for wanting revenge.

I really wonder if Kevin and Julie can redeem him in her eyes after everything. I hope so. Because if they can redeem Damon after EVERYTHING he has done and then have her consider falling in love with him, I know anything is possible. Again for the millionth time PLEASE BRING BACK ELIJAH!!!!!! Sorry, had to throw that in there again in case Julie happens to read this. Begging can’t hurt. LOL!

Just re-watched: The necklace was not around Rebekah’s neck at the house Klaus is building, but not sure if was around her neck at the Salvatore house when Klaus took her….for all we know, Klaus took it off her before laying her on the table.

Just rewatched it…now I’m wondering after Jeremy got that big dose of reality when he almost got killed. Maybe, before he went into the woods to meet with Tyler he had a double shot of vervain and just played along with being compelled by Damon.

I don’t think so because from what I have read, Steven is leaving the show. It was reported that it was a permanent exit, but now I am not so sure that it is. By having him go live with friends in Colorado it leaves the door open for a return at some point in the life of the TV series.

Damon is still the utmost interesting and captivating character, but Stefan is slowly catching up ;) Look forward to seeing more of his dark side! Just please writers when you decide to return Stefan to humanity again do not take him back to who he was, the boring love-sick puppy with no apparent character dimension… thank you, TVD loyal fan.

Hi Georgia Peach…well there goes my idea. LOL I didn’t know that Steven was leaving the show. Kind of feel bad for Elena, she literally has no family left.

Ok Ok, I have some comments about this episode. Overall it was a great way to come back from a two month hiatus, there was plenty of action but it mostly focused on the characters which I think is TVD at its best. Let’s talk about this EPIC kiss, which I think it really was, just not in the way a lot of people are framing it. It was epic because it finally forces Elena to come to terms with her love for both brothers. She didn’t stop the kiss, she let it happen, and she ultimately was left feeling many different emotions afterwards; desire, curiosity, guilt, confusion, and probably fear. I mean she has finally realized that the first person she loved i.e. Stefan and that relationship she had with him will never be the same. That is a huge epiphany to have, does she still love him…of course she does! Delena fans can’t deny that. HOWEVER, she loves Damon too, I believe she always has but it’s a love that has developed over time and I think it still confuses her and scares her because it does run so deep. That being said, the ball is in Elena’s court now, Damon finally kissed her not Katherine and neither of them was dying. It’s a big moment for the triangle, the show, Damon, Stefan, and ultimately Elena. In order for this relationship to progress I again think Damon needs to back off from her and let her deal with her feelings, let her get over Stefan, Jeremy leaving, and process what the KISS meant to her. We know what it means to Damon. I think the next time they kiss, it will be Elena initiating it, it will be in her bedroom (in my opinion and Damon and Elena’s special place :) ) and this will be the kiss that solidifies their romance, that will be the EPIC kiss I’ll be waiting for…the one tonight was sweet and romantic and should hold me over…for now! Thoughts???

I am wondering where the writers are taking the story by isolating Elena with no blood relatives left in Mystic Falls.

I hope they don’t turn her this soon, that is if they ever do. The show is only midway into the third season.

This episode left me a little confused about those witches. Why do they let Stefan into this house but not Damon. They hated Damon from the beginning while Stefan never had any problems going into this house. What did Damon do to make them hate him so much? Or what did Stefan do to make them trust him especially after what he did as a ripper? And when did Stefan make a deal with the witches. Obviously they are helping him so he must have some kind of contact. They were hiding those coffins for him even before Bonnie came to the house. They didn’t show how Stefan and Kathrine stole the coffins. Maybe Kathrine still has a connection to Emily and knew she would help to hide the coffins? And btw where is Kathrine? She asked Stefan to steal the coffins and just left??? I am confused…

I think it must be her brother’s kids. Emily’s family name was Bennett wasn’t it? So if she got married her last name would be different. Since Bonnie’s name is bennett, too I think she must be an ancestor of Emily’s brother. Which leaves the question why is Bonnies mother a witch and not her father? He is the one who carries the name.

That’s what I thought about Stefan. He still cares for her but he doesn’t show it. Maybe he wants her to hate him so she can be with Damon without feeling guilt because Stefan thinks he is not good for her anymore and Damon would be the better boyfriend.
I think of the moment when Damon told Elena he loves her and then made her forget it. He said “I don’t deserve you but my brother does”.. now it’s the other way round. At least I think that’s what Stefan thinks.

All Kat asked Stef to do was get mad, she never specifically told him to steal the coffins…….if he was mad, he was feeling something. Could be that was her way of getting him to start letting his humanity back in, she did say she liked the old him better.

Damon can’t get in the house because of Emily (she likes to play burn the Salvatore with him)…..she’s being a little petty if you ask me, but there you go. Stefan was able to get in and put the stolen coffins in the house, however, I think he asked Bonnie to help him with hiding them. She was able to use the power of the dead witches to conceal the coffins, only allowing them to be visible if Stefan basically said it was ok.

But when Damon first looked at the coffins they weren’t visible and then Stefan said “look again” and the coffins were there… Either Stefan can controll this hiding spell or he has some kind of connection to the witches so they know when he wants them to show the coffins…
And why did Kathrine ask Stefan to get mad? She said she liked the old Stefan more and getting mad is something that’s not like the old Stefan…

Yeah, I think you’ve got it. If Stefan says it’s ok, the coffins will be revealed. Basically, the dead witches want to re-balance out nature and that means Klaus being dead. They can’t contact Stefan directly, so they used Bonnie, hence the “witch dream” she’s had.

Kat told Stef to get mad because if he’s mad he’s feeling something. It’s a means of getting back in touch with his humanity because anger is an emotion. Lexie told him the same thing back in the 1864 flashback. It’s all a means of learning to control himself with his humanity on. I think getting mad is most definately a part of the old Stefan….but keeping in mind that Stefan has to learn how to balance out his vampire nature with the “old Stefan” without being on bunny blood, which makes him weak. Damon was correct when he told him he should have been learning to do this all along.

As much as I loved Lexie, this bunny blood plan of hers did Stefan no favors:(

At first I thought like you did, that Kat wanted Stef to steal the coffins…but now? I’m not so sure. She went through a lot of trouble to save Damon & to save Stefan from himself….I’m not so sure she would want to put them both in danger all over again. But, what I am sure of, she’s off looking for yet another way to kill Klaus;)

And yeah i agree Damon killed Jeremy, Elena’s own brother and she forgave him yet she seems to not want to forgive and help Stefan at all. Cant she see that unless she tries to help him he will never get back to his old self? She cant give up on him but then want him to have his humanity back as well. His humanity isnt going to reappear by magic all his loved ones need to pull together to help him. But then it does bring up the question: did Elena ever really love him as much as she said she did? Because by the way she is giving up on him now, it doesnt look like it. Where everything is standing right now what with Elena basically leaving Stefan and kissing Damon, I dont think if Stefan got his humanity back (whether thats in the next episode or next season) I dont think Elena deserves his love. After all, how can she not see that everything he has done, he’s done for her or Damon? When Damon did everything for selfish reasons that had nothing to do with helping or saving Elena.

I dont think Elena really realises that by giving up on Stefan and kissing Damon she is pushing the Stefan she says she loves further away.

Bonnie’s mother could have come from a different line…not all witches are named Bennett (Remember the Martins from last season)…

I kinda think Bonnie’s dad is a warlock, he just doesn’t practice his magic. I also kinda think Bonnie’s mothers maiden name was Pritchett (remembering the very long shot of the name of the tomb Mikael was held in)…..

If this is the case, this would also make me want to ask Bonnie’s mom the following: What is her connection to Klaus? Somebody bound Mikael up and put him to sleep, right?

Thinking along those lines….I’m also wondering what makes Bonnie all of a sudden want to go on a road trip to find her mother. Something points Bonnie in that direction, right? I wonder what it is….

Hi VAMPLOVER, I thought that the first time Damon went in and the witches burned him they were still upset. Then when Damon and Stefan went in together (Damon could walk in and didn’t get burned) the witches realized that Damon was on the, lets kill Klaus together bandwagon? After reading your comment….dammit this show can have so many meanings. btw…you must have a great weekend after your guy and Elena kissed! No really I’m not jealous…umm yeah I am!!

I think the second time Damon entered the house it was at night, right? So, even if Emily wanted to burn him, she couldn’t because there was no sun.

So, we still don’t know if Damon would burn again if he entered the house in the daylight:(

yes, if Stefan says it’s ok the coffins are visible but how did he find out that the witches can make them invisible? Did he talk to them? Why did he know they would be safe in the witches house? And as far as I remember Bonnie came for real (not in her dreams) after he showed the coffins to Damon. So he knew the trick before Bonnie came. I’m sure there is something going on between the witches and Stefan

Ok, not all witches are named Bennett but it was Emily Bennett and it’s Bonnie Bennett.. so there has to be a connection. But thinking again nobody said that Bonnies Mom and Dad were officially married. Maybe they are not married and Bonnie got her mother’s name.
Your thought about Mikael is very interesting though. We still don’t know who tied up Mikael in this tomb. Maybe it was Bonnie’s mom.
And do we know how Emily died? She didn’t burn in that church because she was still alive after the fire when Stefan and Damon woke up in transition. And we do know that Damon promised to save her family if Emily would save Kathrine from burning in the church. So did Damon fail in saving Emily’s family? I don’t think so since there are still Bennett witches alive today… So why are the witches esp. Emily angry with Damon? I just don’t get that

No, she didn´t die in the church but she died when those 100 witches were burned in that place where the sacrifice happened. Damon couldn´t manage to save her for some reason. I´m not quite sure why.

No, after Bonnie’s dream, Bonnie showed up at the witch house after her conversation with Elena at the Grill. Stefan was there. He asked for her help in concealing the coffins. At first, Bonnie said she didn’t have enough power to conceal the 4 originals? The dead witches are helping Bonnie help Stefan…..that’s also how Damon & Elena knew where to find Stefan….Bonnie told them.

Yes, but back in season 2, Elena was dating Stefan, so of course she would never (do that) cheat on him… but now it’s completely different since Stefan broke up with Elena, so technically Elena can kiss whoever she wants!

In Season 1 Bonnie said the following: Parents Divorced, live with my dad.

This means the Bennett line runs through Bonnie’s dad.

OK- Here’s the backstory per S1 & S2: Emily was not burned with the 100 dead witches that came from Salem and populated Mystic Falls as Iansfan suggested below. Those witches were there before the Founding Families. The Founding Families took the land away from the witches and burned them at the stake. You have to assume they didn’t get all of them though, because the Bennett blood line was also part & parcel with the Salem Witches that populated Mystic Falls before the Founding Families. Then later, in 1864, after the vampire round up, Katherine, before making her escape, clued someone (assuming George Lockwood) in that Emily was a witch. Emily had a feeling they would be coming for her to (after all, she was also Kat’s handmaiden) and made a deal with Damon: Protect my lineage & I’ll protect Katherine. Damon held up his end of the deal. If not for him, there would be no Bonnie, nor any Bennett, alive today. However, what Damon didn’t do was save Emily herself. From what Damon said, he tried, but by the time he got there, he was to late….The reason Emily is still mad at him is because he couldn’t save her, too. I think she feels like he should have been a bit faster, but like I’ve said many times, that’s a bit delusional if you ask me. He did protect her lineage, so he kept up his end of the deal….however, Emily did not keep up hers. After all, Kat was not in the tomb to be saved. Assuming that she didn’t know that, she still didn’t want Damon to get in the tomb, due to the fact there were supposedly 27 other vampires in there with her. However, what I have never understood, is why Emily didn’t suggest just giving Kat back to Damon and burning the other 26 vampires…my guess is she knew Kat was never in the tomb to begin with, I just can’t prove it because nothing has ever been said about it.

Not a big fan of Emily Bennett, at all.

I agree with this for sure more-so than your previous comments, I think I am right to say that this is what ya were trying to say in your previous comments just more elaborately explained? It’s pretty much exactly how I would put it for the most part. I definitely agree Elena needs to fully realize what she has in front of her instead of waiting for what she has lost to come back. I would really like to see Elena return the passion in the same way Damon has, I think it is ludacris for her to deny it anymore. I really hope it goes that direction in the coming episodes and that they continue to move it forward.

On a side note I think the Damon/Elena relationship has a much greater foundation than the Stefan/Elena relationship has. Stefan and Elena were more spur of the moment new-love passion while the Damon and Elena relationship has grown from a foundation of friendship/trust much like Caroline/Tyler’s relationship was built (although there were a few speed bumps, I think they were necessary for this relationship to grow into what it is now).

Sorry but after all that he’s done how does he just “go back to his old life?” Yes he made that conscious choice to go with Klaus but who would choose to let their brother (his only family) die?

I can see why his angry and wants revenge on Klaus. He has been living quietly and even built a life for himself and all that was taken away when Klaus came to MF. I guess he should have just let Damon die LOL then where would TVD be? Sure as heck wont have Delena moments now would we?

I think that’s Stefan’s point. There is no turning back for him so he needs to screw with Klaus and eventually kill him. All that rage has given him tunnel vision so he no longer even cares (or at least acts like he doesn’t) about collateral damage like Jeremy.

Did he deserve the slap? Sure. But Elena needs to make up her mind. She gave up on Stefan after believing that he screwed them over yet she comes running to him in hopes that he will help?

Actually, Elena needs to find the courage to say Back the hell off to
everyone so she can think for once about what she wants and who she
wants to be. That girl is way overdue for a mental breakdown and having
Damon all up in her space before she can even figure out what the hell
is going on with her life doesn’t make things better.

She said she wanted a normal life, have children, and not become a
vampire yet she’s supposed to have 4eva with Damon because they have
sexy chemistry? Girl needs time to be alone and process everything.
They won’t do Elena any justice if she’s shipped off to the next
brother. And I hope to God if/when that happens she stays there. I
would hate for Stefan to have yet another girl to share with his
brother. It’s just too Katherine and she has always said she is NOTHING
like Katherine. Choose one and leave the other alone please.

As for the rest of your post, it’s basically my thoughts on Stefan. All that rage and grief of what he lost gave him tunnel vision. I laugh at how people say “why doesn’t he just go back? all he wants is still there!” Like that’s easy for him? Imagine all the guilt he has from all those killings he committed for Klaus all to save his brother and keep Klaus away from Elena.

At this point, Stefan has nothing left except revenge and I understand it. I guess they needed a reason to push Elena farther away from him but not caring about Jeremy. Elena hating him really does make the transition to being open to Damon easier or so they think. I never shipped except maybe the brothers. I have read that SE has more chemistry than DE and vice versa. I have read that SE was rushed but DE is really slowly developed. In the end of the day, DE will be tainted because Stefan will always be there.

And if she can forgive Damon for literally killing her brother right in front of her, she’d be a hypocrite not to do the same for Stefan who basically just didn’t give in to her dumb plan of giving up the only leverage anyone has against Klaus. Yes Elena because if you give the coffins to Klaus he will just go on his merry way and leave you all alone to live in peace!

Correction: Elena did not want to be a vampire and live out her life forever with Stefan. It’s up to her to decide to turn for Damon or not. But that’s a conversation for a much later date. Because one kiss does not a relationship make;)

Also, unfortunately, the show is based on a love triangle. So, for Elena to choose one and leave the other alone simply won’t happen. I think that’s the point and what she’s going to be struggling a lot with as the future story unfolds.

Elena actually does have a lot more in common with Kat than just her looks…..if you haven’t noticed that, then you haven’t been paying attention:)

If she didn’t want Damon “all up in her space”, all she had to do was push him away. It was her choice to kiss him or not. But I do agree with you, she does need a little time to process what happened and how she feels about it. Considering everything Elena has gone through over the past year, I’m surprised she hasn’t had a mental breakdown……poor thing.

Snap Jeremy’s neck wo compulsion. That would be a start. Then you can move onto temp. killing Alaric, try to kill Bonnie and Caroline and then I would call it almost even.

I really love this show.But I just hope that Elena and Damon stay friends, as they are right now -careing of eachother and nothing else. And that she continues to fight for Stefan.Its to much of a twist and turn otherwise.Love will conquer all.

Just realized- Damon and Elena have been through so many different levels in their relationship… it really has been building! With Stefan it was that she met him and they pretty much started dating, ooey gooey like! but with Damon she has gone through so many different emotions and gotten to really know him good and bad and all… their bond is kinda awesome!

Ahh I see, gotcha. Well anyways I was thinking more about this today and if I may make a prediction I think that possibly in the next episode the Damon/Elena relationship will continue to progress and I think that Elena will be be the one to initiate the next intimate act. After watching the promo for the next episode we see that Stefan is going to kidnap Elena (at least that’s what it looks like), force feed her his blood, and threaten to turn her into a Vampire, effectively taking away her choice. This is one thing Stefan has always protected: Elena’s choice.

This event is obviously going to be very traumatic and devastating to Elena and I think it is going to cause Elena to seek comfort in Damon (the type of comfort that she needs after such a traumatizing experience). Damon has been Elena’s rock this season, and Damon is the only person that Elena has to turn to for this type of comfort. I think this is gonna cause the walls she has put up to drop for Elena because she is going to need Damon now more than ever.

This is just my prediction and I can see it going that way somewhere along those lines, it would seem to mesh with Julie/Kevin’s style of writing and pretty plausible for the storyline. Just a thought.

this was such a great episode made perfect by the Delena kiss .but with or without it was intruguing suspenseful and heartfelt .poor Alaric but what a fantastic reveal that the Dr is Meridith .Alaric will hopefully find happiness .love all the Delena scenes .this show just gets better and better !!! Cant wait for the next ep .

Wow it’s been such a long wait for us in the uk but that episode was amazing! And damon and elena’s kiss made the end, it was sooooooo great!
