The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesSo the fifth episode of The Vampire Diaries airs tonight. You know how not much happened last week? Oh, I kid – look at that title. I think it’s safe to say that things are going to ratchet up a notch – or ten – this week. In fact, this episode is apparently so intense, so chock full o’something, the CW didn’t release any episode stills. What’s that about? Well, you can get back to us later tonight.

Prod and ponder You’re Undead to Me spoilery tidbits (and put your spec helmets on before heading over to the discussion forum):

We will once again be asking those of you who experience sound problems during broadcast to please, please let us know. We’ll have details in the poll post later this evening. Thanks to those of you who gave us a heads up last week – the information was passed along.

So, this is not particularly related to this post, but I read this today, and thought it was a nice blurb on TVD (sorry for the length, and to Twilight fans – this is only the view of the article author, of course):

“The Vampire Diaries. Okay, so 800,000 [viewers] in Canada and 3.8 million in the U.S. doesn’t sound like much — but. No new series has bitten into its target audience (women, 18-34) harder or more deeply. And no teen-oriented series looks, or sounds better. The Vampire Diaries, as conceived by Dawson’s Creek’s Kevin Williamson, was tailor-made to be downloaded and watched on an MP3 player, and that’s exactly the way younger viewers appear to be watching. The CW recently revealed that subsequent MP3 viewing boosted The Vampire Diaries’ numbers by — get this — 52 per cent. And here’s a little secret hardly anyone dares mention: Vampire Diaries is actually better than Twilight, the movie that spawned the teen vampire craze in the first place. Since The Vampire Diaries has 22 weeks to tell a story that the new Twilight movie can tell in only two hours, the die may have been cast.”

That’s an interesting article. They don’t mention that 3.8 million viewers is really great for the CW, as it’s not one of the Top Three networks. Can’t believe MP3 downloads boost the ratings by over half, wow! And I agree, The Vampire Diaries is much better than Twilight.
