The TV Chick is back with two cast interviews from her Vampire Diaries set visit, this time with Sara Canning and Matt Davis (both of whom, we might add, we love seeing pop up on the publicity radar). First up, Matt Davis discusses Alaric, his developing relationship with Jenna (and how that ties in with his relationships with Elena and Jeremy), and Alaric’s future now that Isobel is “gone.”
So what do you want to see from Alaric going forward?
That’s a good question. It’s a really good question. Because it’s been a challenge for him in terms of his purpose, now that Isobel has been squared away and that’s been removed from his focus. It’s like what does he do now? What purpose does he serve now? I think he ultimately wants to be peaceful and if that means killing a lot of vampires and werewolves and protecting the town in order to get there, then that’s what he’ll do.

And Sara Canning touches on Jenna’s role within the supernatural goings-on in Mystic Falls and what Jenn’a reaction might be when she discovers how much Elena, Jeremy, and Alaric have been keeping from her.
Jenna knows a lot about Elena’s family history that we don’t even know yet. Is it possible we might see that come into play?
I think so. I definitely think so. I mean, we’ve seen that Jenna has also been keeping a secret from Elena about being adopted and having to be the one suddenly to tell her about the adoption which is kind of insane. That’s a big thing to have to deal with when she’s not Elena’s mother and she’s just learning about this parenting role herself. I think we’ll see a little more stem from that with what she either knows or doesn’t know. And I think it’s going to really throw Jenna for a loop as well to see maybe she doesn’t know as much about her family’s history as she thought she did. And then she’ll probably feel a little bit at a loss because she’s supposed to be in the position of control and to be an actual authority figure and when they’re a lot of secrets floating around, that kind of challenges her position.
