Comments on: Tyler 'Lockwood'?

While I agree with Vee that the new name suggests old money, every time I come across this post now I am reminded of Caroline B. Cooney’s Time series. Anybody else remember and still love that series? The main female character’s last name was/is Lockwood, and then in the last book (which I never read, but) supposely the first name of the new main male character is Lockwood, and, if you have read all the other books, he came from old money…so, I don’t know, having Tyler’s surname changed to Lockwood, while it makes sense it also sends small chills down my spine everytime I see it because of Cooney’s use of the name and the fact that those characters came from old money, too. It probably seems silly, but it really does irk me a little bit.

I know, I know. Things like this happen in TV/book land, and I really wish it didn’t bother me. Hell, Elena not being blonde or Bonnie not being a redhead, all the other little changes they have made don’t bother me, so why should this, when I know things like this happen? Just…*shudders* ….I had to point this out.

I seem to recall a conversation back in March (when the name changes came to light) about Tyler’s name in particular and I think just about everyone in said convo acknowledged that a last name change for him would probably be for the best. And I remember a lot of [blank]wood alterations being bandied about and someone suggested Lockwood. Kind of cool to see it up there now.

I think it works. It smacks of old Southern money, which is the point with Tyler.

hahahaahahahahahha Ian Somerhalder is adorable.

Now, back to Tyler.. somehow, “Lockwood” doesn’t fit him at all in my eyes, but at least it fits way more than “Stratton”.

This whole “Lockwood” business will be accepted as long as we (the royal we) are assured that Tyler still smells like Brut and Doublemint. But really–leaving “wood” in there at all…thank you, and hahahahahahaha!

I still think Tyler and Dick were originally one character named Dick Smallwood. Srsly.
