Vampire Diaries Bite: Is Vaughn a Threat to Damon? (AUDIO)

We know Vaughn (guest star Charlie Bewley) will play a big role in this week’s new episode, Down the Rabbit Hole (EP414). In this week’s Vampire Diaries Bite, TV Guide talks to Ian Somerhalder about whether Vaughn will pose a threat to Damon in particular. And . . . looks like yes:

“Damon would be an extremely difficult man to get tied up to a tree, unless you’re Elena or some hot sorority girl who is compelled to do so. So the fact that he’s there means Vaughn knows what he’s doing.”

Tyler no-not big enough to kill off, Damon yes, he’s the biggest, but how are they gonna kill him, and it’s gonna stick? He’s got like a 7y contract, he is the highest paid and has the biggest fan base, doesn’t make sense…but this is TVD…

I’ve no clue, but we’ll find out in the next week or so!

I wonder how Vaughn gets the better of Damon. I mean, I know Damon can’t kill him, but why can’t Damon just knock him out so he can get away? There has to be more to this.

lol @ so many people thinking Damon’s going to die. Or Tyler? I didn’t even think of him. I’m torn between Jeremy and Bonnie.

I find it kind mean when people say that Damon’s is the biggest fanbase. Unless you literally knock on the over 2 plus million doors that watch this show and ask everyone in the place who their fave is you can’t say his is the largest. Just because on polls or comments you get under 40 clicks does not mean the majority. I know the people I talk to love the whole show and ALL of the characters, could be they are the majority.

Yep, just listened to it again…she said, “With Damon in danger, is he the one to be dying this week.”

I thought it was next week. Now that I think, it’s 4×14…14 is one of those numbers of BonBon, 8 14 22!

I don’t know, but he is a highly skilled vampire hunter with a completed mark/map, so he’s killed and often.

I want to know why Vaughn is on that island and what is he doing there. Connor told Jer he did not know why, just the innate need to kill em. He did not know what the map meant, don’t think he ever knew about the sword. He didn’t even seem to know about Silas/Qetsiyah or the cure.

So maybe Vaughn did a bit more research and found out some facts or something. Someone suggested he maybe there because of Katherine…I’ve no idea, but by the sound of it…we’ll get some good info tomorrow!

Thank you for saying this. I enjoy other characters on the show too. While I like Damon, another character is my favorite and several of my friends feel the same. It feels like me as a fan is not important, weird but that is the way I feel. So, thanks.

Wendy, you are right – there is a lot of documentation out there stating I.S. is the highest paid among the cast as he is the actor with the largest resume. I think that has actually been posted quite a few times in this site chat. I don’t know if they’ve done a major survey as to which character poles as the favorite – I doubt they want that answer as it wouldn’t necessarily help the series. :)

During season 1 it was reported by a couple of salary sites that Ian Somerhalder made 42,000 and was the highest paid TVD actor. However, it is possible that the actors have renegotiated their contracts by now.

I think “means” is a harsh word to use.

Many statistics are based on an average. Damon leads most TVD related polls and forums devoted to him (the latest Wetpaint poll showed he had a 64% lead compared to the entire rest of the cast). Just because my favorite character isn’t the most popular doesn’t mean it’s mean for someone to point out who is the most popular.

Creators often fire fan favorites and don’t base ships on those facts (Julie Plec is one of the one’s who said she wouldn’t base show content on such facts). (Not that I think Damon will die)

Bonnie (although Damon is second) are my favorites. I know a lot of people get down on Bonnie, and she’s not technically a fan favorite (again, based on many TVD polls and forums), but it doesn’t make me like her less or get angry.

I just don’t get why it makes some people angry when there’s a lot of info online that points to some of theses facts.

I mean it’s a fairly basic conclusion to come from when it is seen on multiple polls and such.

Sometimes I like disagreeing with a majority, I have for 90% of my favorite ships really.

Plec has always said on or before the 15th episode. It looks like this will be the big action episode. I was thinking about those numbers the other day. The Damon says I love u theory on 2×8, 2×22 , 3×14, 4×8 -and now 4×14… I remember in an interview with plec when she said that with the intro of Vaughan will also bring one of the nicest delena moments. I’m holding onto that when I’m watching him being tortured.

We true d fans know that the show will go on with him, they won’t write him out anytime soon. So if not d. Then who?

Maybe Damon does die (that’s one), Bonnie brings him back to life but dies in the process (that’s two) and when she brings back Damon, he is no longer a vampire. What sticks is Bonnie’s death and Damon as a human.

I think it would be a huge addition to the show if Damon were killed.Now think about it.Obviously Damon is a very important part of the show so it’s not like he won’t be back soon and you would prob still see him every episode cause he will be trying to talk to everybody and we could really see thing from a new prospective i.e. the other side.Like mabey an encounter with Grams,or dare i say RICK!!!!

Ian, Nina and Paul were offered the same salaries in their 5 year contracts, which was forty five thousand dollars per episode along with upgraded increases based on how well the show did. New salaries going into season six will be included with their extended contracts. Nina does not get more money for playing dual roles, but that may change going into season six depending on how she renegotiates her per episode salary.

I’m sorry, but I don’t see how killing Damon would be an addition to the show much less making him a spirit that tries to make contact with everyone. I don’t think that was what Ian was talking about when he sad there were “big things coming up for Damon”.

Damon isn’t the one that is dying, but I could certainly see him being possessed and/or controlled by Silas. Damon is the one that protects Elena at all costs and tries to protect the town too, so if he is no longer the protector that everyone turns to, but instead turns evil to help Silas unleash “hell on earth” …what happens then? Bonnie may have to do an Expression Magic exorcism. To make it worse, Jeremy may die and Elena will flip her humanity switch off.

If Damon is killed off, I will no longer watch the show! Plain and simple! There is no way that they are going to kill off the most popular character on this series. I can see him dying at the end of the series but not now! I think Jeremy or Tyler will kick the bucket.

So Wetpaint took a poll that had what maybe a thousand people if you’re lucky? That’s no where near the over 2 million that watch the show. If you’re going to throw the teen/peoples choice, they are not true votes either. You can vote over and over and over again. Older women actually admitted they lied about their age just so they could vote in the teen choice. Just so I’m clear I love watching Ian just as much as I love Paul, Nina, Candice, Claire, and the rest. When I hear that “some” of Ian’s fans are constantly ranting that they are majority I find it disrespectful to fans of the show as well as the actors who work their asses off to give us the best show on TV. You are not the majority. The majority of the fans are the fans of TVD’s.

If Ian were to sign on to do 50 Shades of Grey, it would be during the summer hiatus. He would have mid April through the first week of July to film a movie. He has a solid 5 year contract with an extension into the 6th year for TVD.

To Georgia_Peach,I meant that it would add some spice.Considering that Damon is the best one out of the bunch.And of course it would not be forever,they would bring him back to life.Just would be cool to see how everyone especially Stefan would react to him being dead.

Khatia, yes the Aussie promo for this episode has come out…I think it was Wendy that posted a link on the other thread…I can’t remember exactly because I have been all over this place-lol! The epi airs tonight here in Australia at 8:30pm (Friday)… We should then have a short promo clip for next week after that. So looking forward to tonight:)

I think Jeremy still can. If Damon is going to be an incubus, though, I’d like the cure – pretending it actually works – to enable Elena to see ghosts, too, and to know he’s there. *fantasizing* Anyway, I don’t think it’s going to be Damon. Just going by the episode guide alone, isn’t he suppose to be relaying somber news to Rebekah next week? The two of them then learn stuff from Vaughn, & Bonnie reveals the rest of Shane’s plan. Where the h is Shane I ask you? . . . Unless others will be able to see ghosts, too, after tonight. . . . Then Damon’s going to be attempting to help Elena, because something is wrong with her. Maybe mourning Damon will be part of that. But I don’t think he’s the one who’s gonna die. Not yet. All I know is, tonight’s ep is going to be epic.
