Nina Dobrev as Elena GilbertEntertainment Weekly has a little Vampire Diaries snippet in their upcoming Comic Con preview issue (due out on the 24th of this month). Thanks to Adrienne, we have a scan of the article with a picture of Nina Dobrev in the foggy graveyard. It doesn’t tell us anything we haven’t already known for a while now and, sadly, it doesn’t give us anything really juicy. Though we’re willing to admit that we’re still stuck on those promo images from yesterday, so pretty much everything pales in comparison right now. However, it’s good to see the emphasis on the Vampire Diaries not being Twilight for television where a wider audience can see it. We’re also kind of tickled by the sentence describing the Vampire Diaries as “addictive novels”. Maybe that will entice a few more people to pick the books up and see what all the fuss is about?

Oh, that’s good that they emphasized that TVD is *not* Twilight for TV – I’ve seen so many articles make that assumption, and show they did not do the research.

But ooh, that’s a nice that they mention the mysteries and say it could get bloody… let’s hope it does. XD

Good for KW. I understand the need to be gracious and diplomatic when the media start trotting out the same ‘ole tired comparisons, but there’s something to be said for this show having its own unique fan base and not merely courting that of another series.

A few days ago, I stumbled across someone’s recent video blog about The Vampire Diaries. She was in her mid-to-late 20s, blunt-cut bangs, tattooed arms, and halfway through the video she addresses the claims that TVD ripped off Twilight. Her response was to light a cigarette, take a drag, look into the camera and say, “Shut the [blank] up.” I think I laughed for five minutes straight because it was *such* a perfect summation of that generation of fan.

Rock out with your shock out, TVDtv. We’re not *all* just in it for the pretty.
