Vote for Ian Somerhalder in EW's 2011 Entertainers of the Year Poll Entertainment Weekly has launched their annual Entertainers of the Year poll for 2011 and Ian Somerhalder is up for Sexiest Male Entertainer of the Year.

…2012 is screaming towards us and it’s time to start looking back at the year that was, and the performers that left their marks on entertainment. This is your chance to be a part of our annual Entertainers of the Year issue.

Ian has some stiff competition, including Ryan Gosling, Alexander Skaarsgard, and Robert Pattinson, so head over to Entertainment Weekly to vote! (You can see the other, TVD-less, categories here.)

Paul is not in the poll. Ian is. We don’t pick who’s listed, we just blog it. If you want to ask Entertainment Weekly why he’s not nominated, feel free to comment over at EW. We have no control over it.

That being said, Ian *is* nominated, and he’s representing TVD, so why not give him a vote? It doesn’t mean you love Paul any less.

The choices suck, no one from TVD or SPN for male TV and where was Nina..was this list by noms and if so someone should have told us.

If your question is rhetorical, then I’ll feel dumb, but if it’s an honest question then I’ll explain what I’ve said before (maybe it helps when people feel PW isn’t getting the recognition that he deserves)… Paul Wesley IS a great actor and very handsome. (So is Ian.) But Ian is much more well-known. He was on ABC’s hit show LOST (which had like 20 something million viewers in the first season as opposed to TVD’s 3 million) and a lot of people know/remember him from that. Heck, that’s why I started watching TVD… because I was already a fan of his and I was psyched to see him play a vampire. I’d never heard of Paul Wesley before the show. But anyway, yeah, I’d say Ian is simply a more well-known actor since he was on an ABC hit show. So that’s why he tends to get more recognition in these kinds of polls and stuff, I think.

Let me clarify, I TOTALLY think Ian deserves this recognition. He is amazing. I’m not saying he’s getting recognized just because he’s a bigger name or whatever. But that’s why it’s always Ian, Ian, Ian I think, when they’re all really really talented actors.

Please, my question was not said with malice or disrespect for Ian. Ian is very good looking. I just wondered why Paul wasn’t listed. I had never heard of Paul or Ian before this show and find both extremely good looking.

Big picture here: If Ian wins this, it will give TVD more recognition. Regardless of whether we feel like other actors on the show deserved a nod, we should really behind Ian and the show. I think TVD and its actors should get nominated for all sorts of things. But the media can be choosey and fickle and political. I’m seeing this as Ian representing the show, and I love how he’s portrayed Damon, and I love how everyone has portrayed their characters, and I love this show. So I’m going to vote and hope every TVD fan votes, too.

I first saw Ian on TVD, then got the DVDs of Lost, so same reason for watching, just different order. lol All the men on our show are very hot and sexy and I loved Paul in Fallen, that could have been an audition tape for TVD, just without fangs.

Honestly, I’m not a Paul Wesley fan at all. I have to agree with KatAttack, I actually first saw Ian Somerhalder on ‘Smallville’ and knew right away there was something special about him. Unfortunately, I did not keep up with his career from that point in time. I took a break from TV life. The Vampire Diaries reawakened that part of Ian for me and since then I’ve been buying his other work and realized what I had been missing. I also researched his personal life to learn more about the real Ian. Perhaps one day Paul will make it to that status of where Ian is. Ian deserves all the nominations he has received. This is not only because of him as an actor but mainly because of his views on what happens on our Planet Earth. ISF is an amazing foundation! Me personally, I’ll always vote for Ian, even if he was categorized with other members of TVD. It’s each persons right to vote for who they really Love as an actor/actress and how the people are nominated are based on the fans basically. There are more Ian Somerhalder fans than Paul Wesley fans (sorry guys). Competitions can be tricky I suppose.
