Happy Release Day! The Vampire Diaries: The Complete Second Season DVD/Blu-Ray Out NowToday’s the day, people. The Vampire Diaries: The Complete Second Season is now available at your favourite local store, online, and probably at the end of rainbows.

We’d planned on posting this earlier, but have been waiting a bit to try and work out just what on earth has been going on with that danged Target bonus disc. We’re still not entirely sure, and poor Kate is a gibbering wreck who flinches at the sight of bonus discs now, but we can hazard a guess. As far as we can tell now, the bonus disc comes with both the DVD and the Blu-ray. Early reports suggested that the Blu-ray edition didn’t come with a bonus disc, but we think what may have happened there is that some people were getting the regular edition from Target and so missed out on the bonus disc. We have no idea if this is a nationwide thing or just a few stores, but we do know it’s possible to get the bonus disc on both DVD and Blu-ray from Target. Just check carefully to see what you’re getting – there should be a sticker on the front to let you know. THE BONUS DISC IS ONLY AVAILABLE IN STORES, NOT ONLINE.

Also, on a related note, we’ve heard some reports that some stores in areas that were affected by Hurricane Irene hadn’t had deliveries yet. They’ll get there eventually!

Added by Kate: We’d held off on posting this, too, because of all the confusion, but I have now confirmed with my own eyes that the Target bonus disc is the 2010 Comic-Con panel Q&A (moderated by Marcos Siega), nicely edited with clips from both seasons one and two interspersed. After the panel, there’s a really nice series of clips in which Kevin, Julie, and the cast thank the fans for their support. And, as commenter Rebeccastar points out, the U.S. version does come with a booklet, unlike the U.K. version.

Added by Red: There’s been some confusion over this, so for the sake of international fans, Target is a chain of stores in the USA. The bonus disc is an extra for customers buying from Target stores and not available elsewhere.

Added by Kate: Some sets sold at HMV in Canada have the disc as well.

Sadly, I don’t have the bonus disc.  I wonder if it’s because I’m in Canada…

  • Kate

The bonus disc is just from Target. I think they only have stores in the States, right? Unless you ordered online?

  • CK

None of the Targets in my area have the bonus discs on the blu ray versions, only the dvds. Either they just didn’t make it here or maybe they will be here at a later time.

I bought the Target version with the sticker but there’s no bonus disc inside :(

Is the bonus disc included in the 5-disc set/ Ive noticed walmart and Fye  only have a 4 disc set but best buy has a 5 disc set. does anyone know if this includes a bonus disc… the sites arent saying wats on each disc

Go back to target and tell them to exchange it. You are freaking me out I am going tonight and want the blu ray but if it doesn’t come with bonus forget it. Did you get dvd or blu ray?

Purchased from a Super Target in Atlanta, GA and the set does have the “red” sticker on it.  Also, at time of my purchase there were only 2 DVD sets left on the self and 3 Blue Ray sets.  According to the salesperson the DVD sets were selling quickly, but they were getting more in tomorrow morning.  I would say that is a good sign for TVD.  :)

I got the DVD set. I’ll go back tomorrow.

I bought the 5 disc from Best Buy. The fifth disc is a bonus disc of deleated scenes;pages of the wolf; Her own worst enemy; The perfect love triangle;and gag reel.

the weird thing is i live in ireland and I got the disk on 10th of august I think they got the release date wrong and also it was the UK edition. Weird or what? also here the second season is only on its 10 episode.

Yep, I was totally wrong. It’s the disc labeled “Bonus Disc” and the regular bonus features are on “Disc 5″. I’m so dumb. I was not expecting the Target-only disc to be so well-integrated into the package.

Nothing to see here. Move along. Sorry for the false alarm.

Okay, I watched the special features disc and can I just say…. Candice Accola is adorable… an absolute living doll!

I love the season 2 except for the dvd cover. It’s not as beautiful as the season 1 cover.

So I finally got around to watching the Bonus Disc & special features. I will say I enjoyed the Comic Con & gag reel a tad more from Season 1. I guess our actors are too damn good, they need to slack off & mess up more ;o) I did like Matt pimping @ErnestoRiley:disqus
, Paul falling & “Ian” introducing himself to Mason.
Quite enjoyed Kevin & Julie’s commentary on Masquerade & was surprised on how much I liked the wolf stuff. Holy Hotness & Talent Michael Trevino, *whew* Love the relationship between Michael & Candice on & off screen. Very sweet.

Also, Nina Dobrev IS a rock star. I knew this already but it is further cemented with watching her Katherine/Elena segment.
