Joseph Morgan & Candice AccolaTVLine has some more from their talk with Julie Plec about the Salvatores, Klaus, Caroline & Tyler, and more coming up in the second half of season four. This passage about Klaus is intriguing:

“The beauty of Klaus, much like Damon, is that his horrible misdeeds are all born out of a place of a complete lack of trust and faith as a result of being repeatedly betrayed and rejected in his life. I’m not saying I excuse his horrific behavior, but it’s born from a very human place. Once someone’s got a strong core of humanity, there’s hope for them – [they may] just not necessarily wake up tomorrow as Man of the Year. Klaus will continue to be a very complicated character. Much like Damon in the first couple seasons, when he feels backed up against the wall, he lashes out in very, very destructive ways. It makes it impossible to forgive. And yet, the redemption of Klaus as a character-long arc is something we always talk about.”

Also find out what the future holds for Tyler after his family tragedy, Jeremy with his new “career,” and more.

I’m with DD. He seemed like he was still a big softie in the 40’s. If he really was callous, he’d have just killed Charlotte. Boom, problem solved.

I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that he went and killed a chain gang on the side of the road or something. It’s still wrong, of course, but mildly mitigating.

  • From Beginning To End

Well, it’s like he said when he told Ric he had a “short list” of people he likes or would be concerned about. I think most of the people in the immediate group are included but not necessarily their family lol. I do think that line about having it coming seemed like it might have been placed there for a reason though- but the definition of having it coming could mean something completely different to Damon.

That said, I actually don’t agree with Stefan’s use of the serial killer. I don’t think multiple wrongs make a right and that really disturbed me that Stefan took it upon himself to decide what was justice. I’m assuming the whole point of that was to sell the whole “we’re not much different from Klaus” thing.

  • Robin Rogers

What was hilarious about him choosing that serial killer is Stefan himself is a serial killer and he told Caroline at the beginning of 4×07 that he REALLY wanted to rip someone’s head off or something like that and then he tried to tell Jeremy that it was ok to kill that guy because “…he’s a murderer and he will gladly kill again.”

    I mean, REALLY????

Stefan is quite lucky Jeremy didn’t get it in his head to kill him instead based on that criteria.

  • From Beginning To End

They also used and controlled Bonnie to make Ric a vampire. I’m assuming some of her ancestors were involved in that. I’m pretty sure that ultimately witches only care about other witches and nature and anything that goes against it justifies doing immoral things on their part in order to keep the balance and what not.

  • From Beginning To End

I think it’s really likely, assuming the spell Esther used came from Ayana. Unless it is Esther who is the descendent from Qetsia, which I guess is possible also.

  • From Beginning To End

“compel her and a selected human to work at maintaining the line of Doppleganger’s” that’s…an incredibly disturbing idea for this show haha.

  • William Welton

Seriously.  I’d trade Elijah for Klaus any day.

  • ihatepeople

Sorry DD I had to go back to work today and the internet was working intermittently. So here is the one shot erotic story our girls requested. Go to

  • William Welton

I contend that he actually liked Charlotte.  I’m not saying he was in love or anything, but she made the list.  So he would not want her dead, just gone.

  • ihatepeople

I know the irony of his statement about the serial killer was hilarious. That just goes to show you how delusional he really is to think somehow he is any different. I’ll bet he justifies his killing sprees by saying he simply lost control of his blood lust when the reality is that the driving force behind it is the same as the serial killer.

  • ihatepeople

I think you’re right. Damon liked to hide his self behind the perceptions others had of him to make him seem worse than he was and less likely to be used.

  • ihatepeople

Wow where did you hear that about Ian? Just curious. I know ep 14 is supposed to be harsh based on the photos of him badly beaten and at some point he is supposed to show how much he loves Elena. Now that could mean anything from sacrificing his life for her to sacrificing his sanity by killing the hunter. Both would be very sad to watch.

  • ihatepeople

I’m guessing his journey of growth will take him until the end of the series because he has such dark demons and he has been resistant to address them. I could see his journey for the series not really being about Elena but about how he found peace within himself.

  • William Welton

More fundamantal.  Damon thrives in a lethal world of death and vengeance.  He killed Bree because she dared to conspire to kill him.  It is not something you can just let pass.  It’s not hiding who he is, it is simply that he is well adjusted to his life as a vampire.

  • William Welton

No.  Stefan’s largest defining characteristic is his sense of deep, agonizing Guilt.  It rules him.

  • ihatepeople

They go hand in hand actually. The soft hearted guy he was as a human left him vulnerable to be used and manipulated and he ended up dying for someone he thought loved him. As a vampire he will protect that side of himself and take zero crap if he feels threatened or wronged. The more people fear him the less likely he will be used and hurt.

  • Raven

To paraphrase Elena, what ever Damon has done he has done it for love.

  • ihatepeople

That’s the first thing she actually understood about him.

  • Robin Rogers

Can’t Klaus go to DisneyWorld on vacation or something? Jeezy Kreezy am I sick of that git.

  • Raven

Too bad.Guilt is a controlling emotion of the self. One that is used to manipulate forgiveness in self and by self-judgement get an absolution of sins. The day Stefan feels remorse instead of guilt that will be the day he will begin his path to redemption.Until then he will remain a well groomed serial killer who intellectually knows what he does is wrong but emotionally he thrives on it.

  • Robin Rogers

I know we’re deeply entrenched here, but there’s a new thread re 4×11 that is ripe with discussion potential. Please to come.

  • Georgia_Peach

Um….I’m pretty sure Ian did not cry while reading the script for episode 14.  Where did you hear that?  While Ian is a “method” actor and does go to great lengths to prepare for an emotional scene (thinking of “The Descent”), I’ve never seen him cry, or heard of him crying over a script.   If anyone cries over a script it is Julie…

Damon and Vaughn are definitely going to clash in episode 14 thanks to Professor Shane …. and Damon is going to have some problems because of it.   Professor Shane is already realizing and has commented that Damon is very astute, which is a threat for Professor Shane and his plans.  Lets face it, Damon’s bull shit meter is pushing past the “red” when it comes to Professor (Shadypants) Shane.

  • William Welton

     That was a great read.

  • darkdimension

Do you think that was her plan at that ritual? Just turn them human? If so, she could have got Rebecca on board, not just Fynn, possibly even Elijah. I will rewatch that scene. I didn’t get the feeling any of them were going to walk home and enjoy a lovely cup of tea after the ritual was complete.

  • darkdimension

I could too. And it would be a lot more believable, if it happened over time, step by step, with minor relapses, just like Damon.

  • darkdimension

Like you psychoanalyse serial killers for a living. What a post!

  • darkdimension

Precisely for the reason Elena is on top of her list, he would have not killed twelve innocent people for her. He could barely live it down that he would have let Matt die in her place. Any more human sacrifice for her will be absolutely unacceptable for Elena, and Damon would be a fool to even try anything and hope Elena would not find out. So no. Whilst you do have a point about Damon’s perspective on matters of life and death, I think he would have trended very carefully on this one.

  • darkdimension

That was wonderful, I have posted a review, or tried, hope you got it. You are fantastic at the genre and you engulf our beloved characters in so much affection, that your story is positively glowing of love. It was a delight to read, thank you so much.
You do realise that Iansfan is going to scream: what? You have stopped writing bBEFORE THEY GOT INTO THE BATH TUB??
    Such a tease!

  • delenafan

Yes, guilt is a very damaging emotion that is used to create a “fake forgiveness” or absolution as opposed to remorse which is a “cleansing” emotion that starts the path of true redemption and growth.
I guess feeling lots of guilt actually makes people evil and more prone to hurt themselves and others under the pretext of “righting wrongs” like Stefa turning a serial killer (a mirror image of his ripper self) into a vampire to be killed for the ulterior motive of getting a cure for Elena so he Stefan can be “forgiven” (read relieved from the punishing pain of his guilt).
Unfortunately guilt renews itself as it can never be “healed”. Remorse is the harder but also the real path whereas guilt is some kind of “virtual” absolution that can never heal. Sounds like a curse…

  • ihatepeople

Exactly. I might have some interest in his character too if they let him mature and grow.

  • Iansfan

OMG: As long as you keep on writing stuff like that, the hiatus can be another 6 weeks, I enjoyed your story immensely, although, dd is right, you stopped before the bathtub scene ;)
But your story is to be continued, right? Loved it! ♥♥♥

  • ihatepeople

Hahaha glad you enjoyed it. That’s how I got thru the summer hiatus. I saved the bathtub for later. I’ll start working on it. :)

  • Kyra Higham via Facebook

    love it

  • ihatepeople

LOL. Of course it was a tease. I have to have something to use later. :) I did get your review. Thank you so much for the kind words.

  • ihatepeople

Damon has a great radar for bullshit and can spot it immediately. It’s just getting others to see it that he struggles with because no one ever believes him until after the fact.

  • darkdimension

I’ve been thinking about it a lot today. You have written it with so much love for Damon and Elena. I am not much of a fan of erotica, simply because it does nothing for me if I am not invested in the characters. But in this case it was beautiful and hot. You have pitched it perfectly. There is also the added bonus of it being topical, the delicious possibility of such thing actually happening between them. It was a gift of gold to all Delena fans.

  • Georgia_Peach

Agree…that is exactly why Damon usually has to take the risks alone … they never have his back…

  • ihatepeople

Except Ric but well we know he’s not available anymore. :(

  • Khatia

I/m interesting will Stefan continue to find the cure after he heard about their sex? It’s very strange

  • Tania Rahman123

I agree with all of the comments below, all we hear is Stefan’s POV backed up by whoever agrees with him, Caroline and Klaus, so that he has all the more reason to find the ‘cure’ for Elena. If Caroline and Stefan were so convinced about the sire bond why didn’t they sit down and discuss it with Damon and Elena. Its a little hypocritical of Stefan to continually criticise Elena when he has done so much worse, at least Damon has perspective. It all seems a little convenient, just like all major spells on VD. It would be more dramatic if they discovered that there were side effects to the cure, or any spell, like Elena actually turning into something other than human, and possibly even worse than a vampire, and being even more dangerous

  • Tonia Maks Emelu

i rewatched tvd4 again nd i discovered something when elena is with stefan she’s all crying, annoying, dependent nd weak bt with damon she’s much more strong nd action filled……jst me observing

  • Mrs. Salvatore

Totally agree! I rather JP doesn’t talk about Damon or Delena because she totally teases us. I’m still waiting for that scene in 4×04 that was sopposed to be hot and better than 3×19, hated her so much! Let her keep on talking about Saint Stefan and let us enjoy some more Delena, aside from the SB crap.

  • Mia

ARGHHHH. Why can’t people just leave Stefan alone! Stop hating. His feelings are justified. Damon betrayed him and broke his trust. I love both Stefan and Damon but what Damon did truely hurt Stefan. I think people should step out of their ‘team damon’ bubble for awhile and look at all this in Stefan shoes for once!

  • wednesday75

If this is who I think it is & you’d like to have a civil conversation with a fellow Stefan fan, I’d love to do that with you! I know we are a dying breed! If it is you, I remember when you, Eve & Kiki would be Stefan’s greatest defenders! I’ve recently signed up to a few new forums with a few sane people where we can discuss the show like civil adults! If you’d like to check it out & sign up, send me a message. Here’s are the links.

    I’m wednesday on this one

And wednesday 75 on this one. It was giving an error earlier when trying to register, but if you want to try at a later time you can because it’s a good site as well.

If this is you C, I would love to chat about our guy!:)
