Ready for a flashback? This webclip from 1912 (EP316) is taking us back in time. Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley are both in this one, and there’s plenty of Salvatore family drama to go around. Big thanks to @xLuvDamonx for the heads up and Mil2aCle for the clip.

Updated to include the official CW video.

I was referring to the clip about Damon hating who he has become because of his brother.
I hear what you and others are saying on here about the reasons he felt angry toward Stefan, the betrayal, getting Katherine caught, but Stefan was unaware of what his dad would do… and Damon knew that!
Then there is the insistence that Damon turn…I agree he had reason to be angry.
My issue is Damon loved and loves his brother and would feel a bit differently about all that hate after all that time… you don’t have to agree with me, that’s just my opinion.

Thanks GP- I kinda felt like it’s been awhile since we went down memory lane with the Salvatore boys, so putting things in order was really helpful to me. Especially considering that were fixing to flash back to 1912- and no one can deny that events in 1864 helped shape who the boys were in 1912 as well as who they are today;)

  • Jenna

Why is it this short one month hiatus feeling longer than the hiatus between the season? Geez…

  • Jenna

Well said… there is good and bad in both of them. And that is what makes good storytelling!!! Neither are better or worse than the other, they just are…

  • VAMPLOVER1973

Damon BEGGED Stefan to not tell their father what Katherine was. And Stefan? He promised he wouldn’t. Damon knew exactly what their father would do to Kat if he ever found out Kat was a vampire. Stefan chose to think their father would help them keep her safe…..Stefan unfortunately put way to much faith in their father;)

In answer to the part about the 50 year time jump, to a vampire 50 years is not all that long. Klaus said it best, you have to adjust your perception of time when you become a vampire. So, seeing Stef for the first time in 50 years? Yeah, I can see why Damon still felt all that resentment and bitterness…because to him, it was just like it happened yesterday. He felt like Stefan broke his trust by his actions…and it’s obvious Stefan felt the same way, or he wouldn’t still be feeling so guilty about the things he’s done.

It’s not a matter of me not agreeing with you, I’m just doing a refresher course of past events for myself before this next episode. So thanks very much for helping me keep things in perspective:)

Yes, that was very hard to watch.  Is it Thursday yet, I’m thinking we are going to get some more emotional interactions from our Salvatore brothers.

  • Jenna

You’re right, Damon did beg Stefan not to tell their dad… and Stefan made the wrong choice! He trusted his dad, and of course he would be inclined to trust him, it’s his dad after all! Damon didn’t have a good relationship with his dad… would be cool to see when that relationship went south.
I hear you about the 50 years to a vampire, you’re saying not to look at it with human eyes… but still vamplover, Damon has been alone all this time, his brother is all he has!!! Look at Klaus, he can’t live without his family, even after all the crap he’s done to them!!!  But we can go round and round on this one :)
You know I have had a few issues with the storylines this season, I feel bad for saying it, because I love this show… but fear they might destroy a good thing if they’re not careful.
I appreciate your refresher, it was great!!! And always look forward to the exchange of ideas…

Actually there was a spoiler last week that said just that. Damon has accepted that she doesn’t want him so he is trying to move on so to speak and is focusing on helping Stefan end things with Klaus but Elena won’t let him go. Of course given recent events I’m skeptical so ill believe it when I see it. As much as we all have our favorites I actually think it woud be better (knowing what happened in the past) if the brothers the made decision for Elena and neither of them are with her agreeing only to protect her but allowing her the chance at the human life neither of them had. Just a thought. Far too much future in the series for anything like that to happen yet.

I think they’re trying to kill us with anticipation! I think we’ve all been feeling staked lately. LOL. The Summer is going to be a killer. Looking forward to Thursday is what gets me thru the work week. :)

Here we go again. Delena fans thinking it’s all about THEM.

  • ihatepeople

Maybe it was the awesome sex that kept him from hating her. Definitely wasn’t getting that from Stefan. That would just be wrong. Ha ha. I’m going to guess that Damon was so smitten with her that he was willing to overlook her infidelity just to be with her. How many times do we see a guy or girl forgiving their girlfriend or boyfriend while getting mad at the person they had the affair with? Doesn’t make sense but I guess it’s a different kind of love than brotherly love. I think most think family should come first but it doesn’t always. I will say though that once Katherine told him she never loved him he did hate her. Took a lot longer I guess.

  • Jenna

Yeah, lol on the ikkiness of getting it from Stefan ;)
And I agree Damon may have been so smitten with Katherine that he couldn’t see past the love and obsession with her… he sure has been unlucky in love, yikes!!!

  • http://twitter.com/car24girl Joan Sandberg

I officially cannot take it any more!  Any body at Paley Fest record a bootleg copy?  Folks have shared everything else.  LOL

  • ihatepeople

Yep you’ve got that about the unlucky in love thing. Guy can’t catch a break. No wonder he just has shallow flings. LOL

  • ihatepeople

OMG! I agree completely about that scene. I also cried when he had to kill Rose. Heart wrenching.

  • Gdu

My comments were only in reference to what I saw in the video clip. But I guess we will find out this Thursday if Damon’s accepting his offer of a drink was real or not.

  • Tanja

I know the story,I think about Stefan and Damon´s relationship.
So it was really just jealousy, even in the beginning? Stefan should have an “eternity of misery”,because Damon was jealous?
    Ouch…
This is worse than the despair that he was turned and I think `hate´ is the right word.

Well,I really hope the “emotional confession” to Stefan in the next episode is an apology for everything. And I hope NOTHING will destroy the slowly growing relationship between the brothers again!

  • Canderella

Actually I don’t want to speculate too much what will be happening next episode. Yes, you are right that they often say one thing and do the other. In that specific scene in the webclip I was really wondering what Damon made agree… I seemed to sort of swallowed like it got to him that Stephan so openly spoke about his feelings, missing him. On the other hand instants later he looked like he had a plan on his mind … So I guess both is true :)

Everybody is talking about Damon feeding Stefan. I doubt that he actually knows about Lexi’s bunnie diet for Stefan, he stayed away for 50 years. Coming back with the plan to turn his brother into a ripper again requires that he knows about. He certainly knows that he couldn’t control it, but from Stefan word’s in the webclip we only know that he is not that person anymore. Of course, later when they do have a drink, Stefan might tell Damon, but I doubt that at this point it’s already clear.

To me it does not look like Damon came back to take revenge. It seems he came back for family issues, for the funeral. He probably misses his human live. He is still resentful in regard of his vampire state, drinking from people, walking alone, without Katherine, and isolated from his family as well. From what I make out of his character so far, revenge or suicide would not fit here. JP described him as pious before he met Sage. So something really drastic must happen next episode.

PS: Sorry, this was meant as a comment to Guest down below. But it did not work properly.

  • Canderella

I am not quite sure about it. JP described Damon as pious, so he could not have commited suicide out of his religion. On the other hand killing is quite equally bad ;) So he really is in a dilemma. And Stefan put him there.

  • Gdu

I am having trouble with all the older vampires who are so stuck on things that happened so long ago. I find it hard to believe, even for a vampire, that they can’t seem to get over it. Especially the Originals who have been around for 1000 years. What a waste of time if they did’t spend at least a little of the time getting over their personal issues. But then we wouldn’t have a story.

  • anon

FYI.. I am NOT a Delena fan. I am a TVD fan but I’ve seen how people from one ship blames the other ship for being hateful. If u read exactly what is written, I said blame BOTH ships, not just one.

  • anon

Wheels moving in his mind? Stefan told Damon he changed, he did not tell him that he’s on a bunny diet to control himself. Damon has no idea Stefan doesn’t drink human blood so all this talk about Damon forcing Stefan to drink HB is totally pointless based on what we’ve seen in the webclip.

  • anon

Nothing in the webclip suggests that Damon is aware of Stefan’s bunny diet so to me the offer to accept the drink is a genuine one not one to get back at Stefan.

I don’t know if it’s because of the long hiatus or because I’m getting over a cold. LOL  But, please if someone could refresh my memory…after Stefan  became a vampire…..did he get the Ripper name (dismembering bodies and being a complete psycho)  then or later on?  I mean a Vampires emotions are heightened…both brothers seemed like quiet, nice guys.   Also….obviously Stefan and Damon had a relative that was still human….got me thinking…wonder if all  the doppelgangers only had one child….wonder if any had more than one child.

I find it unlikely that he didn’t know about the bunny diet since he seemed to know enough to call Zachariah uncle in the beginning of the video. Damon has a habit of going into a situation with all the information he can get and after 50 years apart I find it much more likely that he has kept track of his brother.

I said nothing about forcing him to drink human blood. I said he would get him to drink not force him. Your reading someone else into my words. My inclination is trick him. It would also be one way to explain the last sentence of this weeks episode summary. ”Damon makes an emotional confession to Stefan”In any case we will see in the next Thursday.

  • Gdu

I find it unlikely that Damon would ever meet his brother after 50 years without finding out all he could about him including his feeding habits. The video also doesn’t show that he didn’t know so it could go both ways. Lets wait and find out.
