The CW has released the official synopsis for The Vampire Diaries: The Five (EP404), airing Thursday, November 1st on the CW. Highlight for spoilers:

A FRAT PARTY AND A FLASHBACK TO 12TH CENTURY ITALY — Damon (Ian Somerhalder) goes with Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) to visit Whitmore College, where Professor Shane (guest star David Alpay, “The Borgias”) is taking over the Occult Studies classes formerly taught by Bonnie’s grandmother. At a fraternity costume party, Damon takes advantage of the wild scene to give Elena a lesson in choosing a victim. Rebekah’s (Claire Holt) attempt to buy Matt’s (Zach Roerig) forgiveness falls flat, but she is intrigued by unexpected news from Klaus (Joseph Morgan). When Stefan (Paul Wesley) questions Klaus about Connor’s (guest star Todd Williams) motives, Klaus reveals a long-ago encounter with a powerful group of vampire hunters, but it’s Rebekah who delivers the information that stuns Stefan.

The episode was written by Brett Matthews and Rebecca Sonnenshine and directed by Joshua Butler.

DELENA!!! Omg I can’t wait! Also I don’t want Elena to feed off of a human. Can’t she just drink from a blood bag? Damon teach her how to do that! Hurting innocent people is wrong! And Elena is really against that so Damon should teach her a different way.

TVD TOMORROW! I cannot wait! ♥

Another road  trip  for  Damon and Elena, been there.  Hope this episode is more exciting  then it sounds.

  • From Beginning To End

And Bonnie! I think it sounds like fun.

  • From Beginning To End

I read that for the party they go to you have to dress up like a famous murdered person or murderer. In some of the photos taken during production Elena looks kind of like a saloon girl or something, I wonder who she is supposed to be?

  • From Beginning To End

I think she would probably move on to the bags afterwards, but when it’s a person you need more control or else they die so it’s probably not a bad idea to practice that way while he’s there to stop her if it goes to far. That’s Stefan’s biggest problem, he doesn’t know how to stop on his own. But yeah, I think it might be hard to watch, for me anyway.

Love the flashback episodes!  This one will flashback to 12th century Italy… that sounds very interesting considering that is the origin of the Salvatore bloodline.
So when Stefan questions Klaus about this new “lethal” vampire hunter, Connor, he reveals a long ago encounter with a group of vampire hunters.  Rebekah, however, gives Stefan the information that stuns him.   Okay…. that definitely has me intrigued and wanting to know more.  This is just another reason to love the rich 1,000 year history of the Original family.

Rebekah must give Matty Blue Eyes something she definitely owes him = a new truck considering she is the reason he wrecked his.  Matty Blue Eyes just will not hit something standing in the middle of the road..even if it is an Original vampire.

Damon and Elena at a college frat party. Now we’re talking!  This is going to be fun!  Elena will loosen up and have some vampire fun.

I am so looking forward to this episode!

  • ihatepeople

You’re right that she should learn control on a human so when she’s around them she won’t snap. On a daily basis she can drink from the bags but at first she needs to do it the real way for her own good. That’s why the bunny diet isn’t a good idea.

  • ihatepeople

I wonder if somewhere down the line we’ll find out that the Salvatores are related to the originals loosely. I mean there are similariites between Damon and Stefan and Klaus and Elijah. They just seem tied to each other beyond the Petrova involvement.

No one better to show Elena how to have a good time than Damon. Maybe we’ll get to see him dance. :0)

Love, love love flashback episodes…..so, isn’t anyone wondering why we’re flashing back to 12th Century Italy? Not only is the Salvatore ancestors from Italy, but so is a “group of vampire hunters” (something tells me there were five of them..LOL). The common theme this year has been hunter!, hunter!, hunter!….so let me ask you guys this:

    1. Do we think the vampire hunter is a sacred brotherhood? Think about it……Connor is supposed to be a real balls to the wall hunter. Suppose, in order to keep humankind safe from the evil that walks the night (vampires), certain humans joined an order and trained daily to defeat the enemy (vampires). Could be they took oaths to protect the weak, ect… or, there is always the possibility that…..

    2. We’re dealing with reincarnation. The soles of “the five hunters” reincarnate every couple hundred years to keep down the spread of the vampires…..sounds like a witch would have to be involved with this. Seeing as how Esther’s the one who started it all when she turned her children into vampires, it would make sense that the other witches got together and provided a “checks/balance” system to keep the vampire species in check.

Those are my two theories for now. I’m sure I’ll have more once we get going.

Now, onto what Rebekah tells Stefan that stuns him…….I wonder if we’re dealing with a Salvatore ancestor that was part of the ancient group of powerful vampire hunters? It would make sense given how anti-vampire Papa Salvatore was. Let’s just say he was keeping it in the family.

Onto Damon, Elena and frat parties…..I hope this is a wild one! Good lord knows that Elena needs to let her hair down and have some fun for a change. What’s the use of having an eternity to live if you’re burdened down with all the emotional hoopla! But, a word of caution for my Damon: be careful getting to close to Elena. Remember, you are supposed to only be her “friend”….remember, she made her choice……remember that loving her is part of the “problem”…..Oh, who am I kidding? This is going to be HOT! HOT! HOT!…especially considering the spoiler I just listened to off E Online! Yes, ladies, Damon strips….and he does it in front of Elena…LOL. Someone isn’t going to make it easy for Elena to stick to her “choice”. Especially considering how much Damon “consumes” Elena….and guess what? We can magnify that by about 10000 now;)

Onto Rebekah and Matt: I hope Rebekah buys the poor guy a truck seeing as how his is now resting at the bottom of a lake. Poor dude can’t even afford health insurance, how is he supposed to afford a new truck…..

Onto Bonnie & Professor Shane: I’m wondering if Bonnie is having a hard time keeping her magic in check…..if she’s hearing whispers of the “dark magic” she’s been tapping into. Maybe she’s becoming a little to cozy with it and it’s starting to scare her…could be that’s why she goes searching for a Professor specializing in The Occult.

This is supposed to be a big one, and it’s supposed to make us re-think what we thought we knew. I freaking can’t wait for this one!

  • VAMPLOVER1973

LOL…..I just have to point out that the other side of the fanbase feels the exact same way when they are watching the Stefan/Elena relationship on repeat;)

  • Guest

She should give him a maserati. =) He did say he would compel himself one if he could.  But Rebekah’s gonna have to work a lot harder cuz Matt can really hold a grudge.

  • karen

Please do not assume I am part of the shipping wars.  I am a fan of the vampire diaries as a whole and could care less about your divided fan bases.  What I meant in my comment was that every year Elena and Damon take a road trip and it’s been done.  I’d be saying the same thing if it was about the dance which would be Stefan taking her and Damon showing up.  I’m sure this episode will be exciting as all episode of the vampire diaries are.

  • VAMPLOVER1973

Ha! I’m not making assumptions that you’re a part of the shipping  that goes on…I was just pointing out that both sides feel the same way when certain things happen on repeat;)

  • Darcellem

Where did you see the spoiler online about Damon strips in front of Elena!!! Can you give a link please!?!?

  • DJ

Loving all this :D  Vampire feeding 101
…. and I can feel the excitement for tomorrow – we made it through the hiatus!

  • dman

I don’t know how I truly feel about this. On one hand, Elena needs to learn how to feed properly. She’s a vampire now, and learning what it means to be one is an important part of the process. But I also don’t want her hurting innocent people. I want her to maintain those wonderful aspects of her personality that drew me to her. Then at the same time, I don’t want her on a ‘bunny’ diet. I think it’s an unhealthy lifestyle which ultimately does more harm than good. Yes, there is the ‘blood bad’ option, which everyone eventually settles on, but even that has it’s downsides. You’re essentially stealing from a hospital which desperately needs the blood to keep people alive. There’s something really wrong about that. I know that something has to be done, but this whole situation really is a conundrum.

BTW, how ironic is it that Elena is gonna be using a ‘blood bag’ when she was actually used as ‘blood bag’ herself. Hilarious! You can’t make this stuff up. lol

  • lolalovestvd

I’m actually looking forward to this episode. So far, everything has looked pretty sad and dreary so I’m happy for things to expand beyond all of the drama of the transition and get another story line going.

I’m very interested in seeing where this whole Italian flashback figures in. Are the Salvatores somehow involved in the vampire hunter history? Is that why their dad was so hardcore anti-vamp? What does Rebekah know? Intriguing!

Rebekah getting Matt a truck maybe? I think it could happen. I mean, she owes him one, doesn’t she?

Also, I’m really looking forward to this road trip with Damon, Elena and Bonnie. DE road trips are another one of their “things” that belongs only to them and they always have great moments when they get away together.  I hope they have some fun because they could both use it. Bonnie, too. She’s had a terrible time lately.

All in all, I’m looking forward to the season finally starting. I’m not going in with blinders, though.

  • Stevie1421

I know what you mean, I’m really nervous after reading this synopsis. I like Elena’s character just the way she is. If she takes to murdering, or even just feeding on, innocent people then she’s no better than the other vamps on the show. And as the main character Elena needs to be different, she needs to be the one with the morals. Otherwise we could just have anyone as the main character, it just would’t work.
Plus, you’re right, after all the times Elena’s been fed on, how could she do it to some other person? I want to say ‘I have faith in the writers’, but last season, whenever I said to myself ‘I hope the writers don’t…’ that’s been exactly what’s happened. But, please writers, don’t turn the main character into a serial killer…that only works on Dexter!

  • VickyRp26

Meh episode. Gonna watch Klaus/Stefan/Rebekah/Connor scenes on youtube later.

  • DamonIan

They won’t. I’m pretty sure they won’t make Elena the vampire that murders innocent people to feed. She needs to learn how to feed on humans (feed and erase method) so she won’t lose control in her very long life. They might take this angle: Elena is the vampire that has never killed a human in all her life. She may do blood bags and occasionally feed on humans, but she won’t kill any. Remember, in the world of vampires there are many gray areas of good and bad. That’s why i think she has to rely on both Damon and Stefan. They both bring a different perspective to the party, so she can pick and choose how she wants to live, but considering bunny blood is not efficient  and killing people is off limits in her morals, then she’ll probably choose the middle lane: feeding on humans but not killing them and drinking blood bags….UNLESS she becomes a Mikael and drink vamp blood instead…which is really not a bad idea!

  • Stevie1421

I really hope you’re right. We’ll see very soon. SO EXCITED.

  • dman

Nicely said! Even though I like Katherine, I don’t want Elena turning into her. I know she’ll have her ups and downs in this new life of hers, that’s to be expected, I just hope she’s able to maintain some sense of who she was, further serving as an example to everyone.

  • dman

I don’t know what happened, but this comment was meant for Stevie1421.

Considering how the individual promo photos have an “old school” look with the lace, embedded symbols, blood, Latin wording, goblets of blood, snakes, bleeding from the hands, etc… I am guessing this ancient story will go back to Rome between 900 – 1000 years ago and to a Brotherhood of what will be 5 highly trained and very lethal Vampire Hunters/Killers.  I’m not sure if this will go the route of reincarnation of the five, or just a vampire hunter by “birthright” that has trickled down through their male descendants.  I am now officially concerned for Jeremy Gilbert, especially since his individual promo photo shows him with a symbol of what could be “the Brotherhood” on his hand.   After watching “Arrow” tonight I am visualizing Connor having similar skills, agility, weapons and ammo.

BTW: I loved “Arrow”…just throwing that out there.  It is a shame Brady the werewolf was always wearing a jacket on TVD.

Also,  I have to wonder how the Salvatore family fits into all this, as well as who exactly were the Mystic Falls Founding Families because they certainly knew about vampires in 1864.

TVD Season 4 is going to be so good!

  • Kego

They said Stefan wants Elena on animal blood, because he knows she couldn´t bear to have killed a human. When I read now “Damon gives Elena a lesson in choosing a victim” it sounds so out of (Elena) character,it cannot end well!
We all know Julie Plec loves a good drama… Elena is a young vampire and who knows what will happen when she´s hungry and tries Damon´s “hunting lessons” without help? I think it backfires.

  • VAMPLOVER1973

I feel sorry for Elena. The very thought of what she’s going to be is going to horrify her. You’re right, in a sense, that it’s a bit of a conundrum. She has to have blood to survive and she doesn’t want to hurt anyone while getting it. The fact remains, though, that if she only stays on the animal blood diet, she’ll never learn to control her urges…..that spells major trouble down the road as we’ve seen with Stefan. I can’t imagine Elena would want to be known as the Ripper of Mystic Falls;) So, for me, animal blood is not an option unless there are no other blood sources around and she absolutely has to feed.

If she can get her nourishment from blood bags it would be the ideal solution. That being said though, vampires are essentially predators. What happens if some poor human guy/gal pisses her off and she loses her temper? Or if some poor human guy/gal threatens her life or her loved ones? I can think of at least a million scenarios that can happen where Elena bites someone….and it’s been explained to us how strong the call of human blood is to the newly turned….who’s to say that when she gets a taste she’ll stop? Somebody needs to prepare her for that inevitability so she knows how to control herself.

I don’t necessarily want Elena to harm anyone either….but is she can learn the snatch/feed/erase/heal method, it’s a heck of a lot safer than if she doesn’t know what she’s doing and some poor dude ends up dead. Remember, an injury can be healed….death is final (or at least it’s supposed to be). Elena will feel a ton of guilt if she accidentally kills someone…..if she hurts them, she can heal them. There’s no taking killing someone back:(

  • VAMPLOVER1973

It’s on the main page of this website;)

  • dman

You’re right about everything, but it’ll still be hard seeing her feed on someone. Out of everyone on the show, I hold her to a certain ideal. Maybe I’ll just have to get use to her being this way.
