I finally got a chance to watch the relevant parts of several episodes and I’m more confused why this event with Abby is so critical. No one even mentions Damon’s name afterward or blames him. Bonnie is mad at Elena, then forgives her. The big deal with Abby is how hard her transition is and abandoning her kids. Elena’s first talk with Damon afterward is if he’s the best person to help control Stefan’s blood problem, and Stefan is trying to cope with gaing self-control again. Elena never brings it up and pretty soon they’re all allied against Originals with white oak stakes. To answer your question, I don’t see any evidence Elena is holding Abby against Damon.

Damon has to tell Elena because it’s a huge gap in storytelling for her not to know any events that happened while she was gone. Plus the synopsis says Stefan tries to tell Elena about recent events and she calls for Damon. Isn’t that a good thing and exactly what Damon fans want?

LOL who?? you mean Elena?? awe, they could never get rid of the shows heroine ;) i love Elena, in all her flaws.. Kat imo is just a petty old mess haha i loved her in the early seasons but she just got pathetic.. ;)

lol Can’t help it Lee, I have always found her annoying,, like some find Caro;) Instead of a Triangle,,
it should be just about the Brothers for awhile . I find,, when you put them together, there scenes are dynamic with action & dialogue. WAY more interesting of an S.L. (MO:)

I have the feeling the writers are going to sort out whatever is going on with Delena and then focus on the brothers, they may not get any solid SL moving forward together till next season?? I obviously dont know for sure lol

It was a critical moment in the show for several reasons & it all comes down to choice:
    1) Stefan’s choice – get revenge & freedom from Klaus & let Elena die or not (I would say that is a critical decision)
    2) Stefan lost coin toss so he could kill Abby or Not…he could have told D he could not go through with it
    3) Stefan said by doing this it will WRECK Elena – Damon confirmed she will “HATE” us for it. So Stefan once could Kill Abby, Save Elena knowing she will HATE him for it (strong words and very critical moment).
    4) Since Stefan was expected to kill Abby, Damon could chose to let Stefan go through with it or he could step in and do it…This Choice Is Critical…Damon knows Stefan is hanging by a thread he knows Elena would hate him for it and he still chooses this selfless act to help his brother and disappoint the girl he loves
    4) Damon could kill Abby or turn her into a Vampire (again a very selfless act)
    5) Stefan knew Elena would hate Damon for what he did so he could have soften the blow and told her the truth or hold his silence – AGAIN a Very Critical

I agree the writers produce these gaps in the SL and it is good they are addressing it now but it does not mean that Stefan gets a free pass…bottom line Damon protected and did a selfless act for his brother and it should have been recognized. ALSO Stefan should have been more honest with Elena for all the reasons I listed in above post…maybe if he had they would still be together to date.

As much as I agree that choice is an important theme of TVD, in this case the writers chose to focus on a different aspect of the story – the brothers’ relationship and the fact that Damon did a good deed for Stefan at a very low point in S. life. Damon was also saving himself, his brother and all the other vampires who would’ve died that night if the Originals died. That’s why nobody blamed him; the rest of the gang knew why he did it. As for the deeper issue of Stefan gets passes while Damon doesn’t, I don’t completely agree, or it’s more of a gray area to me based on characterization, but I’m pretty sure we’ll get more chances to debate that one!
