Category: The Vampire Diaries TV's Price Peterson Interviews Julie Plec: Senior Year, Death &‘s Price Peterson – he of the hilarious Vampire Diaries recaps and captioned photos – has what we think might be the most entertaining interview with Vampire Diaries Executive Producer Julie Plec we’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. Julie gives some hints on Season 3, identifies the two major show moments where she realized what she wanted The Vampire Diaries to be, fan favorites, killing characters, the school issue, Katherine as villain and vixen, accidental homo-eroticism, and The Secret Circle.

So national authorities haven’t yet noticed the town’s death rate?
We always talk about the “FBI Episode” when the FBI shows up in town and is like, ‘Um, you do realize that you have a higher death rate than all of Northern California?’ But look, I think that the timeline of the show is very specific. There’s a lot that’s going on under the noses of the authority figures. And there’s an element to that that’s both ridiculous and fun. I remember that Buffy episode when the students finally, like five seasons in, gave her the award for being the class protector. And what they said was, “It might seem like we don’t notice these things, but there’s some pretty weird stuff that happens in this town!” And I remember thinking, “It’s Season 5!” But yeah, it’s a fine line.

<3 Price Peterson. His recaps are just as good as the show. Everyone should read them.

Ehhh, not a Price Peterson fan. This interview was not my cup of tea.

  • halyson

I noticed that too!! And it was the third season of Buffy not the fifth Julie!! :D

  • CheckeredYcats

I used to feel the same way, but I enjoy them now. He used to just straight up bash the show, now you can tell that he actually likes the show and just pokes fun at it.

Hahaha hilarious interview, and the photos! LMAO! JP sounds like a really fun person. And after reading the interview I had this weird nostalgic feeling about S1.. and I think, arguably, there were times where better chronological technique was used in the episodes compared to S2. Like the scene she mentioned, perfect! (MORE FLASHBACK EPISODES PLEASE! I wouldn’t mind if a whole episode is set in the year 500 with Elijah and Klaus kicking ass!)

FBI episodes look really good, it was bout time someone noticed the death rate and this makes the show seem more realistic. Oh no, Elena and co don’t even have to worry about senior year. What do we have our pet teacher for, lol?

Not gonna write an essay, “the train has just left the station” :-)

I love Price Peterson’s recaps just as much as I love The Vampire Diaries… which is A LOT. This was the best TVD interview I’ve read. Can’t wait for tomorrow! Thursdays are the only things that keep me going through the school year… lol.

I thought that, too. Haha. That was a good episode.

Agreed. I wasn’t totally fond of his recaps until he began to get into the show. Now I’m a huge fan of his.

THANK YOU TV.COM for asking unique, intelligent questions instead of the usual “So when are Damon and Elena gonna hook up now that Stefan’s out of the picture??” and all those typical questions that we’ve seen answered a billion times. It’s refreshing to read this interview.
