Vampire Diaries Nominated for Saturn Award: Best Youth-Oriented Series on TelevisionThe nominations for this year’s Saturn Awards have been announced and The Vampire Diaries has once again hit the ballot, this time for Best Youth-Oriented Series on Television. Their fellow nominees in the category are Being Human, Doctor Who, The Nine Lives of Chloe King, The Secret Circle and Teen Wolf.

From the press release:

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Academy, which was founded in 1972 by noted film historian, Dr. Donald A. Reed. His endeavor was to honor and recognize genre entertainment, which is frequently overlooked by mainstream entertainment-industry awards.

Over the years, the Academy has expanded its reach to include other genres, such as action, adventure, and edgy entertainment. Television and home entertainment are also recognized.

This year’s Saturn Awards will be presented at a special ceremony on Wednesday, June 20, in Burbank. For complete nomination details as well as more information about the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films and the Saturn Awards, please visit www.saturnawards.org.

1st off, yum yum to the picture of ian on this thread. I know its old but it caught my eye…once again.
Secondly, i know they promote this show as a teen show but am i the only one that doesnt feel its very teeny bopperish? Oh well, no big deal.

No I agree. I’m reading the books which to me lean that way more but I look at the series as more of Science Fiction Fantasy based than age targeted drama. Unless of course it’s because I never grew out of it in my own adolesence. Entirely possible but I don’t think I’m alone then based on this website and the shows popularity. LOL.

Ha! You have great taste Laney….that’s once of the pics I alternate on for the screen saver on my computer;)

I don’t think TVD is geared toward the teens, at least not this season. That’s one of the reasons I’ve loved it so much this year.  It’s almost like the show is a  more adult. But that being said, I can’t complain that our favorite show has been nominated for an award…that’s always cool. True Blood was nominated at the Teen Choice Award and that show is soooooooooooooo not for teens;)
