Vampire Diaries Season 3 Finale Date AnnouncedNot that we want to think about this at all right now – we still have seven episodes left in the season! – but the CW has announced the Vampire Diaries Season 3 finale date:

Thursday, May 10th

That leaves us plenty of time to brace ourselves for a TVD-less summer. Also: You know how Vampire Diaries season finales go. Anything can happen.

Alright! That means The Secret Circle should have its finale at the same date then. I can’t wait!! Finale episodes, while 100% depressing because of the Summer hiatus ahead, are still awesome!!

  • Missy

    So ONE MORE Hiatus??? :O(

  • ilisek

Another two TVD-less Thursdays, it looks like :(

  • Aerilyn

With the Season Finale on May 10th and with 7 episodes left, that means if they do another short break, it’ll only be for two weeks. The next LONG hiatus will be the one during Summer Break.

  • Caroline De Luna

OMG, i cannot believe that it’s gonna end very soon… felt like it was yesterday…

  • Mila

How many months does it take to start the season 4?

  • ihatepeople

What is up with the hiatuses this year? Were there this many last year and I just didn’t notice? Seems a bit excessive personally.

  • ihatepeople

Doesn’t start usually until mid September.

  • Mila

    Omg thanks :/

  • Sarahxoxo

the dayy after my birthdayy! :D i hope it’s a good finale! :D loool

  • eve

Completely agree.  As a fan since the beginning….I’m hooked on this show.  But, if they want more viewers they should either go easy on the time between hiatus’ or have fewer of them.  I think (my opinion) that a new viewer would kind of give up on any show that is off more than it’s on.

  • Georgia_Peach

The CW is no different than other channels.  Some do it with 2 or 3 weeks of reruns then a new show 3 weeks in a row and then 2 or 3 weeks of reruns or specials.  I think Fox has Glee and Bones on extended hiatuses too…until mid April.   TVD only films 22 episodes per year.  Therefore, it has to be spread out.  Otherwise TVD would be shown like 24 was, which is without interruption starting in January through May.  I would not want to wait 8 months for TVD to be back on my TV screen.  Nope..that would not work for me.

The TVD cast had a round table read with Julie Plec and a couple other writers today for episode 20, Do Not Go Gentle, which is the next episode they will be filming.  Although, Matt Davis tried to prank Joseph into believing the table read was cancelled and “Momma” Julie Plec had to intercede.  Children behave!

The big guy, Kevin Williamson, was in Atlanta last week through the weekend.    Kevin, Julie, and part of the writing team were all in Atlanta discussing and writing the last two episodes of the season.  While Kevin was in Atlanta he had a visit/meeting with Joseph and Claire.  Also, Nathaniel came back from LA early on Friday.   I hope that is a good sign that the Originals will be back next year.    I am so happy that Kevin is very “hands on” for the last two episodes.

So excited for the return of TVD.  Only
7 more episodes for viewing pleasure this season.

  • Bonniefan1

Season 3 has been the worst, IMO.  I really hope the remaining episodes restores my faith in this show. Season 1 and Season 2 were EPIC!

This has been the BEST season so far, IMO. I sure hope the Originals survive to return next year…ok, maybe not all of them, but we for sure need Klaus, Elijah & Rebekah….I’ve got my fingers crossed for Kohl, too, but I don’t want to be greedy;) My goodness, this season has just FLOWN by!

All TV shows has hiatuses, it’s the nature of the beast. It’s just that we all like this one sooooo much, it just really blows when the dreaded hiatus comes around. The one I personally really hate is the summer break:(

  • Ellorockstar

from what i calculated there will be anpther hiatus in April

  • Spookie

Is there going to be a season 4??? I can’t find the answer any where…

  • Cherrie

I think on May 10th I’ll be BOTH jumping up & down in excitement but also crying.

Happy because I will be done with my Spring semester & out of school until September but super depressed because TVD will be gone for four months. At 8:59 when I see the awesome cliffhanger & “The Vampire Diaries” logo pops up on my screen I will probably be screaming “noooo” & crying because season 3 is over. This obviously very unhealthy.

The fact that I can’t even survive a month without an episode is pretty bad isn’t? I think my obsession for TVD has gone up throughout the years & it’s just getting worse LOL!

No worries, TVD isn’t going’s the CW Networks highest rated show:)

24 was my favorite TV series of all time until TVD came along. GP- I’m thinking, because I know they are going to start working on the 24 movie, I’m going to spend my summer with Jack Bauer, starting at season 1;) That will keep me occupied until TVD comes back on…there’s always Suites, The Game of Thrones & True Blood as well.

You are right, though. I remember getting so excited in January when 24 was set to premiere…knowing I had an uninterrupted 24 episodes in a row from January till May was awesome…until May came around….then I went into the LONG wait for January to roll around again. So as much as I loved the 24 format, I can’t say I mind having TVD pretty much year round, with a four month break in the summer…..I hate hiatuses…but I REALLY hate the SUMMER hiatus:(

  • night magic

over on under the secret circle it says they will have their final at the same time .hope this helps !!!

  • ihatepeople

Yes, it was online about a month ago that they have at least signed on for season 4. The writers are planning on at least 6 seasons if they can pull it off.

  • ihatepeople

I guess I didn’t pay as close attention to it before because I wasn’t as reeled in until this season. Don’t get me wrong I noticed when there were reruns last season but they didn’t seem as painfully long as they do now because I wasn’t as hooked as I am now. I watch every episode before but I didn’t count the days until was Thursday like now. Wow what happened to me? LOL. It’s kind of a catch 22 really…wish the Summer away quickly so we can have new TVD.

  • dman

24 was one of my favorite shows too. My favorite seasons were 1-5, with the first season being the best one. I have the DVDs, I think I might watch them soon.

I also love Game of Thrones. It’s one of the best shows on television. Though I was very disappointed that they killed Ned Stark so soon. I loved his character. Kinda reminds me of Stefan. My favorite sites are The Wall and Winterfell. I love their gritty atmosphere. Jon Snow and Tyrion Lannister are some of my favorite characters and I also love Daenerys Targaryen. I think it’s pretty obvious why. She’s so hot, eggs fry themselves in her presence. Scrambled or over easy. Ha!

I really ambivalent about hiatuses. On one hand I like the 24 format where the show is shown continuously without interruption. But like you say, we have to wait a long time for a new season. TVD has multiple hiatuses in a season, but we don’t have to wait so long for it to return. They’re both frustrating in their own way but if I absolutely had to choose, I would probably go with the 24 format. I like knowing I’ll be able to watch a show without worrying about the inevitable hiatus.

  • dman

You can’t fully judge the season until it’s over. Sometimes you have to take a step back and look at how some episodes fit within the context of a season. Granted, the last 5 or so episodes haven’t been great but this is still TVD and I have faith in the writers that they know what they’re doing. I’m withholding my judgement until the season is over.

  • dman

I hear ya! And everyone thinks smoking is a hard habit to kick. Try going a month without watching or discussing TVD. TOR-TURE! I think we both have the same disease. I wonder if there’s a cure. Would you even take it? I think I’ll die happy in a windowless room with TVD on repeat. Probably yelling at something stupid Damon did. lol

  • KatAttack

Six seasons is a good, solid arc and I hope they go at least that long. Plus if they have at least 100 episodes they can get syndication, which is a huge money-maker.

  • Georgia_Peach

“24″ was my favorite show too.  I am still missing Jack Bauer on my TV screen.  *pout*

Ha! You’re favorite characters on The Game of Thrones are mine as well. I love Winterfell & The Wall, too. I loved The Starks and their words…Winter is coming….that completely described how the Starks lived, if you know what I mean.  I knew Ned Stark was going to die, but that’s only because I read the books;) Danni & her dragons are AWESOME as well. And what can I say about Jon Snow….as the seasons progress, I’m guessing he’s going to turn into a REAL bad ass;) And Tyrion Lannister is a hoot! I bet by the end of season two, your going to be liking Jamie Lannister a bit better as well, but we’ll see;) I don’t want to give anything away, so I won’t tell you how the second book goes;)

I miss Jack Bauer so much! Sometimes January doesn’t seem the same without the excitement of the premiere of 24. Needless to say, I am anxiously awaiting the movie they are going to be filming. Jack was, and probably always will be, the best bad ass to ever grace the TV screen.I really don’t believe their will ever be another character like him….I was in tears in their very last episode of the series. But, like I said, on a high note, they are making a movie….and I’ll be their to watch it as soon as it hit’s theaters;)

True Blood cracks me up…but on that show, I don’t have a favorite male vamp character. My favorite is Sookie….I liked her in the books, and I like her on the show.

You ought to give Suits a go….it’s a summer show on FX, you’ll be surprised on how much you like it, when it comes back on. I know I was;)

I know, GP- I miss him, too. I’m mentally **pouting** with you, right now….

  • Aerilyn

Thanks, and yup not long after I posted that it was confirmed that May 10th will be the Season Finale for both. :)

  • Cherrie

Hahaha!! I probably won’t take it even if there was a cure. I don’t mind being obsessed over TVD. That’s not the worst thing you can be addicted to.

You know its bad when you rather spend one hour on Thursday watching a show than hanging out with your boyfriend. Haha oh well I regret nothing.

  • dman

I was never a fan of Jamie Lannister. Don’t really like the arrogant types. I don’t know how it’ll be possible to be a fan of his. But who knows. We’ll see.

You’re right. Jack Bauer is one of the best characters in television history. A real American hero. I think every country needs a guy like Jack. Someone that’s willing to do what it takes to get the job done. Love that guy.

I like True Blood too but it’s more of a guilty pleasure than an obsession. It’s not as good as TVD but it’s a nice show to watch and it helps you pass the time until TVD returns. I do like Sookie. I also like Jason(lovable slut. ha!), Lafayette(cracks me up!), Bill(proto-typical Southern Gentleman) and Eric friggin Northman(need I say more).

I’m not really into lawyer shows, but I might give Suits a try.

  • NoMoreBoringTV

Well, I have True Blood and Game of Thrones to entertain me over the summer.  Nothing compares to TVD though.   This little CW-show-that-could has surprised all of my expectations.

  • Vanessa Hughes

i cant wait for the finale for TVD AND TSC but then that means we have to wait for months until september for the next episodes

  • Tanja

Byebye TVD – hello Game of Thrones *_* I´m so excited, can´t wait for S2!
But I couldn´t believe that Ned Stark was actually killed,I´ll miss Sean Bean :(

  • Joan Sandberg

Fortunately I have Seasons 1 & 2 on DVD and 1-3 on Amazon that I watch to stem the cravings for new shows.  This weekend I watch Season 1 and 2, guess since there are 2 weeks left, I’ll need to repeat the cycle ……. times……

  • dman

“Cravings” Ha! You sound like an addict.

  • Spookie

The shows I’m looking forward to are the new seasons of Teen Wolf and Falling Skies.
I’m really a tv-show freak. And thank god for internet…..I live in Sweden and they are so much later with every show here. Like, The Secret Circle…that show havent even started here yet. Exuse my bad english.

  • Joan Sandberg

And my best friend is the one who got me hooked!

  • Swecar

Nowadays folks are accustomed to cable and Internet viewing. My nerves are literally shot from all these dang breaks. I can not watch a show like this ever. As much as I love TVD. I am thinking of skipping until the next to last episode. Catching up then watching the finale as it airs. I just can’t do it.

Also How do you know all of the ins and outs of the casts dealings? Interesting.

  • Swecar

OH MY FREAKIN’ GOODNESS PEOPLE! SPOILER! I just started watching Game of Thrones and I just read a brutal spoiler here. I am so pissed. When I write about a show/movie no matter how old if I know something major happened I warn as people who may not have watched yet are reading through.
    Ugghh thoroughly mad.

Anyway, yeah I’ve been slowly moving through 24. I’ve never seen it until recently. I watch through out the year for almost a year now. I’m on season 2 now. I’ll watch it during TVD break. Unlike what someone else said …I am the reverse. I don’t mind the huge break for the cable shows as long as I get it straight throughwhen it’s on. Hmmnn…reminds me of some other things in life hahaha . But anyway Game of Thrones has gotten me through this TVD hiatus thus far. Plus I like OUAT and Revenge. Also the rest of the season seems like it’s going to be great. I most likely will have to stay away from the board, because even in non spoiler zone people find a way to slip in what they’ve been hearing. It takes away from the splendor and mystique of the show I’m starting to realize.

  • Georgia_Peach

The breaks are definitely annoying, but a necessity for the networks.   Revenge, which is a favorite of mine,  just went on hiatus until April.  All networks do it in some form or fashion.  Like @Vamplover1973:twitter  said, it is the “nature of the beast”.

  • Swecar

I agree there is still time to turn this ship around. However, I also agree that the season has struggled much with writing quality and plot relevancy. But still in my mind nothing could be worse than the moonstone *cross fingers*. LOL writing was good last season but I literally wanted to stab the moonstone off the show. So as long as it doesn’t show up somehow someway before the end this season can be saved. I have hope and faith in our writers to continuously bring our show full circle as they’ve  have done in the past.

  • dman

Sorry about that spoiler. I assumed since the show aired over a year ago everyone basically knew about it.

  • ihatepeople

Personally one of the most snore worthy episodes was Ghost World. What a waste of a Thursday.

  • Morgan
